'Sopranos': Some say Asian role is 'creepy' - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

An Asian character on Sunday's edition of HBO's "The Sopranos" gave some viewers, still reeling from the Virginia Tech tragedy, a queasy feeling.

Sunday's show included a story line between Dominic Chianese's "Uncle Jr." and a young Asian man housed at the same facility.

The angry man attended MIT, and had a violent streak, which had some viewers making a connection with the Virginia Tech shooter, who was Korean.

"It was creepy," wrote one fan at HBO's "Sopranos" Web site. "Obviously a coincidence, but still creepy."

Another asked if anyone else found it "chilling and ironic with the role of the Asian-American last night?"

A spokeswoman for the network said it was "an unfortunate coincidence that the character in question was a young Asian man." She noted the episode was written and produced months ago. "Also, the coincidence is superficial since our story line had nothing to do with campus violence or guns."

Just the PC crowd turning over rocks to find something to bitch about. I watched the Sopranos, and the Virginia Tech story never crossed my mind. I also had take-out food delivered the other night by an Asian man, and I didn't think of the massacre then either.

The poor asian actors have it worse than any other type of actor. lol
