Actually I doubt she walked the whole way. Back in the 70s she probably hitchhiked.

Driving in Arizona can be crazy. Nothing but desert, wilderness, etc. It's either very cold or very hot.

I've driven in Arizona before, and it IS crazy!! I don't think I'd do the driving if I went there again.
