Default Did it end at a good time?

Do you all think the show ended at the right time, or should it have went on for a season or 2 longer? I have mixed feelings towards this. In a way I wish the show would have lasted until at least the end of Kevin's Senior year, and they could have done a special graduation episode. Even having them go on for 2 more Season wouldn't have been so bad seeing Kevin adjust to College life. He could have moved into an apartment with Paul, or continued to live at home. Then again, I sometimes think that it ended at a perfect time. Kevin was getting older, his voiced had changed, he had gotten taller, he looked different, acted different, lived a different kind of life then he did in earlier episodes, therefore it didn't seem like the same show anymore. Kevin was quickly headed towards adulthood so it may not have worked if the show continued into his college years. So therefore I voted yes, it did end at a good time. What does everyone else think?

It ended it a perfect time but it could have gone on for 2 more seasons.

Count me as one of those who thought the show did NOT end at the right time!

I thought the show should have at least stayed long enough to see the gang graduate. That would have been justice instead of leaving us hanging in suspense wondering (no pun intended!) what would have transpired had they done a 1993-94 season. But no, ABC wanted to ram NYPD Blue (a really, really bad show ) down the the throats of the American public instead of give "Wonder Nation" what it wanted. 1993 is the year ABC truly died. No wonder the network was taken over by Disney!

The music is what made the show so excellent. Having said that, the show could still run today (focusing on the year 1987). Think of the gang all living in the same apartment building and living their lives as the gang on Seinfeld (but toned down to placate the PTC types)!

My feelings on the issue are a bit mixed, but leaning toward "yes."

At the time, I was heartbroken over its abrupt cancellation and thought it did not make much sense considering there was another year of high school left.

While it would have been nice to have it keep going through the kids' senior year, I think the show would have had very little dignity left by the end of another season, at the rate it was going. I could tell that creative ideas for episodes were fast drying up.

Towhead, I'm lost as to what you mean by "dignity."

I think I read somewhere where the original writers left to do the ill-fated Jackie Thomas Show (a spinoff of Roseanne). While I think what was the final (1992-93) season contained a bunch of bad episodes, I think the original writers could have come back and made a 1993-94 season magical enough to call for even more seasons. ABC really blew a golden opportunity! (Heck, the other networks did, too, considering they could have picked it up like CBS did some TGIF shows in the late 1990s!)

I wouldn't have minded seeing them graduate, either, but I personally feel like the show had run its course.

By that I meant that at the end of season 6, the show was already a couple of years past its heyday of quality, and thereby, popularity. Had it run for another season, it would have just fallen farther (i.e., in the Nielsen ratings).

The sad fact is that it had not maintained consistent quality to keep the viewing audience loyal enough (and the ratings high) so that it could continue for more seasons and possibly go out on top the way "Seinfeld" did.

I think it ended at the right time too. TWY was at its creative peak, so at least they went out on top.

I think seeing the show through high school graduation would have been great.

Much like everyone here, emotionally speaking I wish it could've went on and on, but I know they ended it at just the right time. They were still at their creative best when it ended. I'm glad WY didn't become one of those TV cliches where they add a kid in hopes of boosting sagging ratings. Still, it would've been nice to see them through to graduation and then be done with it.

In another thread I once entertained the idea of any of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan joining the cast as add-ons. I think if they had some experience on this show they would have ended up all right and be positive role models. Danica McKellar (or any of the girls on the show, for that matter) never released a controversial tape, shaved her head, boozed, or did anything to wind up in rehab.

Just some food for thought!
