The one largest thing that stands out in this series is:
Beaver's gullability. Jerry played his role brilliantly throughout the series. I would suspect if Beaver had become less vulnerable to temptations, he would no longer have been "The Beaver." However, in hindsight there were a few things in Season 5-6 that Beaver should have been mature enough to know not to do certain things. (i.e getting all pissed about losing his train set at the age of about 14 was a bit of a stretch.) As a slight sidenote, I also read and heard that Barbra Billingingsly was like a real mother to Jerry and Tony on the set, and some of the original scripts that had Beaver doing things that were gullable, Barbara didn't think they were all that bad. So the writers would sometimes rewrite the scripts making Beaver do some more risky things, so if June had to scold him, it would be more realistic that what had been originally written. I would LOVE to know specific examples where this occured! An interesting contrast to June's character is how she made a big deal about Beaver eating Brussels Sprouts and Wally's "Jelly-Role" Hairstyle when Ward seemed to let it slide. This was out of character for her. Jack |

I didn't think she over reacted, back then it seemed only the tough kids had a Jelly-rolled hair style. She didn't want him to be like those kids. My mom was like her about eating vegetables too, so it didn't seem like she made a big thing about it.
