Keith Olbermann Ready for Some 'Football' - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann will become a presence in TV sports again this fall, joining NBC's "Football Night in America."

The former "SportsCenter" anchor will co-host the Sunday-evening show alongside Bob Costas and Cris Collinsworth. Analyst Jerome Bettis is also returning to the show, along with recently retired New York Giants running back Tiki Barber.

"Keith helped to elevate the medium of sports television earlier in his career, and now he will add his original style and flair to 'Football Night in America,'" says Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Sports. "I'm delighted to welcome him back into the NBC Sports family."

The show marks Olbermann's first work in televised sports coverage in several years. Prior to joining MSNBC and launching "Countdown" in 2003, he worked for a time at CNN, covering both news and sports. He also had his own show on Fox Sports and contributed to the FOX network's major league baseball coverage in 2001.

He was also a mainstay at ESPN from 1992-97, anchoring "SportsCenter" with Dan Patrick and helping launch ESPN2. More recently he's been a daily guest on Patrick's ESPN Radio show.

Of the new gig Olbermann says, "This will, obviously, be great fun and a great privilege for me. To be reunited with NBC Sports, and Dick, and the entire production team, produces all the warm-and-fuzzies you'd be expecting. And even if they weren't old friends and colleagues, to get to work with the nonpareil of sportscasters in Bob, and the most insightful and honest of sports analysts in Cris, will be rewarding and challenging. I hope I can hold up my end of the equation."

Olbermann will continue to host "Countdown," his daily news-and-commentary show on MSNBC.
