Let me explain before I ask my question. Some friends and I were talking about some local haunted houses near where I live. There are two of them. The stories behind them intrigued me to drive with my mom and sister in front of one of them and snap some pictures. I had in mind to create a thread about haunted houses. So, yes, I was thinking of you all when I snapped these pics.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And....I didn't want to get near the house to read some papers posted up by the front door. I took these pictures from across the street. You know, I was intimidated to get really upclose to the house, even in the daylight. I did zoom in to take the the last picture. I zoomed in to 100% in PhotoShop to read what the sign said, and it says, Substandard Building. Do Not Enter. Unsafe to Accept. Hmmm...what does it mean, "Unsafe to accept?" Accept what? ![]() I Googled if "Substandard Building" was a code about the bad luck this house has gone through. I heard from my mom and my friend's husband that two different people were killed in that house; therefore, they cannot sell it! Yikes! My friend's husband mentioned that there is a real code that refers to a real-life haunted or bad luck house. Does anyone know what it is? Here's the upclose zoomed pic: ![]() I have become really fascinated lately with these two ghost houses! There are also some other ghostly places too around town. I have Googled about these houses and nothing comes up! Grrrr...that's why I decided to just snap the pic of this house. |

Wow, that is so awesome, Mona! You know much I love haunted/creepy houses. I have no idea about the code thing, but that's really intriguing regardless! I hope you can find out more about the history of those houses

Well, if you see something like this in or near the house, run away (fast)!

Dilapidated buildings are cool. They seem to have a lot of history behind them...or maybe I'm just making stories where there are none.

There's nothing wrong with that, Cathy. I've often made up stories about old run down houses and buildings. |

There used to be a weird looking house around the corner from where I live, it sat directly in the back of a large field and the windows were all boarded up and looked sort of scary. It was finally demolished.

I dont believe the sign says 'Unsafe to Accept'... It says 'Unsafe to Occupy'. Which is still pretty freaky.
