Default Could Sanford and Son Have Lasted 11 Years?

if Redd Fox And Damon Wilson never left the show do you think Sanford And Son Could Have Lasted 11 years Like The Jeffersons?

It probably would have lasted at least 8 years, IMO. It would have went on past 1977 if Redd Foxx wouldn't have quit to do that variety show on ABC.

It's to bad he did that. I think he did have regrets...that's why he agreed to return in Sanford which I did find entertaining. I think it probably would have lasted 7 or 8 seasons. NBC was in bad shape in the late 1970's, they probably would have kept S&S regardless.

The Neilsen ratings had the sixth season of Sanford and Son somewhere in the top 30. I think they could have squeezed out one more year, even though the series was already running on fumes.

By the time the 5th season came around, the show was getting stale. It would not last 11 seasons.

Has any tv show lasted 11 years? lol

It probably could have gone one more season, ratings would have gone up if Julio returned to the show.

I think the way it turned out was for the best- the last season was the weakest and although I don't remember Sanford it seemed like it was a decent follow-up series so the little vacation that Redd Foxx and viewers had from one another seemed better than if the show had ran continuously through 1981 or 1982. I agree that with NBC's ratings being so poor in the late 70s they would've probably kept the show on for a while longer.

It lasted 11 seasons, not 11 years. Jan of 1975 to July of 1985
