Default Chicago to be U.S. candidate to host 2016 Summer Olympics

It's 9 years away, but today either Chicago or Los Angeles will be chosen to represent the U.S. in the 2016 Summer Olympics. It is widely believed that the U.S. city will be a strong candidate since it'll be 14 years since Salt Lake and 20 years since the summer games in Atlanta.

But not til October 2009 will be the host city be chosen. Beijiing will host the summer games in August 2008, Vancouver in February 2010, and London in July/August 2012. 2014's winter host city will be either Sochi, Russia, Salzburg, Austria, or Pyeongchang, South Korea(will be decided in July).

Los Angeles previously hosted the summer games in 1932 and 1984.

Whoo hoo. Let's go Los Angeles again. Those games of 1984 were just awesome. So many memories.

I prefer Chicago(just because L.A. has had them twice), but I'll fully support L.A. in their bid to host them if they get it. It's America's turn again.

WOOHOO!

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Olympic Committee picked Chicago over Los Angeles to become the U.S. candidate to host the 2016 Summer Games on Saturday.

Chicago is a FAR better choice. As far as I know, the Olympics have never been held in the Midwest. So let us bask in the glory.

St. Louis had them in 1904, but that was over 100 years ago.

Besides that:

Los Angeles, CA(Summer 1932 and 1984)
Lake Placid, NY(Winter 1932 and 1980)
Squaw Valley, CA(Winter 1960)
Atlanta, GA(Summer 1996)
Salt Lake City, UT(Winter 2002)

I'm hoping to get to one of the Olympics(not in 2008), but maybe Vancouver or London, and if Chicago gets it in 2016, defintely! I went to a soccer game at the Atlanta Olympics(in Birmingham, AL)

The Olympics are so corrupt now, I am surprised anybody would want them.

It would be really cool to have the Olympics here in Chicago. Though I cannot really say that I would still be living here in Illinois in 2016. I hope within the next couple of years to move somewhere in the south.

I hope Chicago is selected, since LA has already hosted the Olympics!

Vancouver is winter olympics, not summer.
