Before I begin this review, in John Katsigeorgis' book entitled: "To The Moon: The Honeymooners Book of Trivia", it states that episode #19 was "Glow Worm Cleaning Powder" and it aired in January '53 and not this episode. That is probably wrong because in "The Honeymooners Lost Episodes", it states that "Glow Worm Cleaning Powder" didn't air until June '53 (his website says the same thing that the Lost Episode Book too.)
Episode #38 TV: Attached to "The Prowler." VCR: Attached to "The Hypnotist." DVD: Attached to "Principle of The Thing" & "Alice's Aunt Ethel." The episode opens up with Alice at home. Ed comes in and Alice gives Ed the good news. Ed helps Alice by emptying the dirty contents of a pan out the window. ALice: "What happens if people who are walking down the street come in contact with the dirt?" Ed: "Its' Saturday. They have to take a bath anyway." Ha! The people who do the Glow Worm Cleaning Powder ads are going to pick Alice as next month's Glow Worm Girl. Ed is happy to hear that. Ed leaves. Ralph comes home. He had a bad day on the bus. One person sat behind him and annoyed him. When he asked Ralph why he didn't shave today, Ralph threw him off the bus. A move he later regreeted when he found out that person was an inspector or something like that for the Gotham Bus Company. Alice tells Ralph that she is going to become next month's Glow Worm Girl. Ralph (sarcasically): "There is the solution to all my problems." Ralph says he doesn't want Alice to be in the ad. Ralph is being mean when he says that. Ralph says something along the lines of: "I can just see kids coloring mustaches under your nose if the ad in which you are in is on the subway." Ha! When Ralph gets told that the people fromt he ad want him to be in the picture, Ralph changes his mind. Typical Ralph, huh? The people from the ad arrive ready to take a picture for the new Glow Worm Cleaning ad. Ralph: "This Glow Worm Cleaning Powder is very good. It's the only thing that will get rid of that rim in the bathtub." Ralph assumes that he is going to be in the ad with Alice as her husband. Ralph gets told that he isn't going to be and that an actor is going to take the place of Alice's husband." Ralph (yells): "WAIT A MINUTE!" Ralph: "That stuff I told you about this powder is a lot of bunk. We still have that ring in the tub." Soon, Ralph wants to throw everybody out. But, he then gets told that they will use him for another ad. Ralph: "Well, I don't want to stand in your way Alice." Yeah, sure he doesn't. Ralph's picture is taken. He assumes the title of the ad is going to be: "Are you trim, slim and thirty." That is not going to be the title of the ad. The title of the ad is something like: "Are you fat, flabby and forty." D' Oh! Not something that Ralph wanted to hear. Ralph then throws everybody out before the picture of Alice can be taken for the new Glow Worm Cleaning ad. Ralph is upset that he thought he was insulted. Alice, starting to cry, tells Ralph that they wer up here to take her picture and that it would have been a great thrill for her. I hate seeing Alice cry. Ralph apologizes and Alice forgives him. They hug and kiss. Episode #40 TV: Attached to "Pickles." VCR: Attached to "Move Uptown." DVD: Attached to "Move Uptow & "The History of The Lost Episodes: The First Season." Note: When I first read about this episode from honeymooners.net in 1998, I thought that this was the only episode that was not part of the episode summary link of that website, so I e-mailed either ZXMan or Bill S. (I can't remember) and I told him about the episode. I got a reply back by the person, asking me for my own summary, (which I never got a reply nor did it get included in the episode summaries). The episode opens up with Ralph and Ed coming home froma baseball game. They left before the game was over because Ralph won something. Ralph mentiones that Alice told him not to go to the ballgame because he had a job. (He called in sick.) Ralph says that the announcer on the PA system announced thateveryone had a number and if one of the people who got the number that he read would have won money and a loaf of Pop's Pumpernickel Bread, and probably a car. Ralph mentiones that with the money that he's going to win he's going to make sure that Alice has the bunion removed. Ralph says with all the money he won, he isn't going to get a big head. Ha! The way that Ralph talks, everyone gets the impression that he now has a big head. Ralph calls for a celebration, so he sends Ed out to get some food. Ed: "I feel like a contestant on 'Strike It Rich!'" Ha! When Ed and Trixie leave, Ralph thinks that Trixie is mad. Aice explains to him that he now has an even bigger head since he now has won a lot of money. Ralph of course disagrees. Ralph mentions that the photographers are going to come and take a picture of Ralph that's going to appear on the front page of the paper. Alice says that Ralph can't accept that grand prize because Ralph's boss is going to see the picture and assume that Ralph lied to him when he said he got sick. Ralph couters by saying he will get another job. Alice: "You know you are throwing away years of your pension money." Ralph: "That's a big deal. If I still was a bus driver for the company, I would then have to wait a lot more years to get my pension." Ha! Alice says if he stays with the bus company, when he turns 70, he will have a nest egg. Ralph: "When I turn 70, I won't have the strength to hatch it." Ha! The photographers come and when they are taking a picture of Ralph and Alice, Alice says something to infuriate Ralph. Ralph: "Don't steam me Alice. Don't steam me..." Photographer: "Smile!" Ralph smiles. Ralph: "...because I'm already steamed." When the photgraphers present Ralph with the document for him to sign so they can print the picture, Alice tears it up. The photgraphers go back down to get another copy of the document. Ralph (to Alice): "You just torn a legal document. That is worse than forgery. I should have you arrested." Alice: "Ah! Shut up!" Ralph goes into the bedroom just before the bus company physician. Ralph when he comes into the kitchen, sees the physician and says he is sick. His stomach and tongue hurts. Question: How likely is it for a person to have their stomach and tongue hurt at the same time? The doctor looks at Ralph and believes him and gives him medicine. The reason why the doctor came to see Ralph was that there has been so many phony sick calls, that the company has been cracking down. There was one person who called in sick and went on a fishing trip. Because of that, he might lose his job. When Ralph hears this, he is unhappy that his boss may find out if he sees him in the paper. The doctor leaves. Ralph apologizes to Alice and then changes his mind about getting the prizes and the picture in the paper. |

I guess I shouldn't have said honeymooners.net. I meant to say I read about this episode on MPI's website (or whatever website that was) that gave information on all the old Honeymooners Lost Episode VHS tapes. The website had a photo from an old Pool Soul sketch with Art Carney in the same photo. It looked like Art was playing a bellhop or something.
As you can imagine, that part of MPI's website (or whatever website that was) is no longer online. I may have have found that link from Honeymooners.net a long time ago and if so, the link is not there anymore. |
