Amy Billig

Hello, I've been lurking here on and off for a little bit but new to posting. I apologize in advance for any mistakes I make. What is everyone's theories on what happened to Amy Billig? It is disgusting what Paul Branch did to Mrs. Billig especially if he is the one who kidnaped her. I also do not believe the story that Branch's widow told Mrs. Billig. I believe either the widow made it up for money or the widow kept asking Paul about Amy and he just made up a story to shut her up. I have no idea what happened to Amy though I do think she is no longer with us.

I don't know if Branch's widow's statement is true or not but I don't believe Amy lived for very long after she disappeared. She was probably only alive in my mind for a few days (at the most) after she vanished. I don't feel any of the sightings, rumours or reports in the following years were the least bit accurate. Fortunatley both Amy's parents are now at peace and I hope their daughter is too.

Branch's story may not be exactly true, but something like it probably is.

It does raise the question why so many people over the years kept reporting they were seeing the same girl who was known by the nickname "Mute", although it is possible it was, originally, a coincidence or mistake, and the Billigs became convinced that was their daughter and pursued those leads.

The strong likelihood is that she was a little more into drugs and a free spirited life than her parents may have realised (would hardly be the first time that happened, and her diary extracts show she was using some drugs), that she was taken against her will or may even have accompanied bikers to a party, where either she suffered an overdose and died, or was assaulted and was killed and her body dumped soon after.

The rest, appallingly, is probably another or other girls who were kidnapped or owned by bikers.

But it does raise some questions? Did the biker Mrs Billig met really own her for a while? If he didn't, and she did in fact die soon after becoming associated with the bikers, why did the biker seem (as I recall) to know so much about the intimate details of Amy's appearance (he knew about a mole or something on her body, didn't he?)

And was Paul Branch, or was he not, assigned the task of misleading Mrs Billig about Amy still being alive? If she was dead, why wouldn't he be assigned the task of convincing her of that, rather than having her continue to investigate the activities of biker gangs, which might potentially expose those bikers to possibly criminal charges?

Lots of mysteries still involved with this case. Truly fascinating, not to say haunting.

I just wanted to expound on some things, I think a good deal of the cases UM profiled involving these basically young kids had to do with a person who was basically "a good kid" but a bit naive and maybe wishing to spread their wings a bit just getting into a situation where someone that naive had no business being in.

When you talk about the drug culture, I think the 70s and the 80s were filled with a lot of middle class kids who tried to experiment but really had no idea what they were doing to their bodies because they really were the guinea pigs for teen drug experimentation. Now everywhere kids go from television to the classroom, they hear of and are aware of the possibility of drug overdose or whatnot and I'm not so sure that was harped on so much for the kids of say Amy Billig's generation.

There are so many cases and its so sad each time, I could easily see that Kurt Sova kid just getting in over his head one night with drugs or what have you with these kids he didn't know and just overdosed. It could be the same thing that happened with Billig.

As RK alluded to depending on how much you want to vilify the bikers in the case of Amy Billig, she could've just gone to a party on her own free will, had a bad reaction to some type of drug and basically died right there on the spot and the bikers just got rid of her body. Or, one of the bikers or a group of bikers could've put something in Amy's drink or slipped her something to see how a pretty girl would react to some type of drug for a prank or perhaps so they could have their way with her more easily and she died that way.

I'm pretty sure the bikers are involved somehow in Amy's death due to the intimate knowledge they had about birth marks and such on her body, but as far as kidnapping her and such - I don't really buy that at all.

I tend to agree, the bikers were somehow involved with her death.

One of them may have invited her to what she thought was a harmless music, beer, maybe some drugs and a chance to go for a ride on a cool looking motorcycle. Unfortunately for Amy, something bad happened at that party. She may have overdosed on some potent drugs or, possibly, she was intentionally killed. Motorcycle clubs will murder, even women, if they are angered.

Im reading a book about the infamous Hells Angels and there is a similar story about a women with no connections to the club who was murdered. One night the Angels were partying at there clubhouse in Arizona and they decided they needed some female company (for sexual purposes). They sent one of their prospects out to find a woman for them. He located a lady at a bar, told her about the party and convinced her to come along. That was her big mistake. At the clubhouse, following some drinks, she made some comments about the bikers which they didnt like. She was subsequently taken out to the desert, stabbed a couple dozen times and left to die. Amy Billig may have encountered a similar fate.

I sincerely hope this did not happen but I doubt she is still alive.

I have to agree with everyone else on this one. I think Amy went to the party of her own free will and suffered an overdose or something similar. I don't think she really knew the dangers of what she was doing, she most likely just thought she was going to a fun party. The bikers probably just disposed of her body somewhere. I hope her parents are at peace as well.

What about that biker who said Amy was fed to the gators soon after was abducted? I saw that on some show years ago.

I seem to recall reading about that in Amy's mother's book as well. It seems logical enough being in Florida and all that she would have been red to the aligators as a way to dispose of the body completely.

I actually think Amy being killed and then fed to the gators is one of the more plausible theories as to what happened to her. Gruesome as it is, it could have definitely happened.
