Do any of y'all watch this show? I just got into it recently and it's SO good. I can't get over that these are really people out there just doing the jobs that they do everyday, and it's always that intense and dangerous, and not like a contest or something like that - it's so realistic. Like when the boat capsized in the first episode this season, or the rogue wave last year? It's amazing (and also kinda scary sometimes.)

When I remember I watch it
I just sit there spellbound until it's over. I could almost not imagine anyone choosing that for a life, but it's probably the last 'old west frontier' type places you have today where it's nothing but danger, unknown, and man against raw nature, and freedom which can definately appeal to a long buried part of our pampered and domesticated selves. Luckily, we have the show to watch to get it out of our system, and come away thankful we're not those poor battered men. |

I haven't been watching this show for that long, but it really is must-see television for me - because it's so intense and because they don't shy away from showing just how dangerous this job is that these guys do, and they don't sugarcoat how hard they really do work for their living. And I like that they show how dangerous it is too - even though that is sometimes scary. (A man went overboard this week!)
I think Captain Sig is probably the best example of that frontier type you are talking about - because even though he is kind of abrasive, you can see how much pride he takes in doing the job he does. Do you have a favorite boat? |

I have watched this show since the first season.
Did you know Mike Rowe from the show Dirty Jobs does the narration for Deadliest Catch? |

Yeah, I know - thought it took me a bit to figure that out, even though his voice was so familiar - I think he's awesome! (And he's really good looking!) He does a very good job narrating, I think - I always feel like the episodes are put together really well and flow.
I am very glad that they rescued the guy who went overboard this week - it's amazing how tense scenes like that in this show are - I guess because they don't shy away from showing you when bad things happen, so you know that it's a real possibility that something could turn out to be tragic, and you get nervous about it. But, I'm glad that everyone turned out to be safe! I also love how they show some of the boats playing tricks on each other and stuff - it's so human and down to earth normal. Do any of you go to the official show site? They have some good webisodes and clips up there. |
