I recall during some of the UM opening credits there is a scene where a motorcyclist passes a SUV and runs right into a pole. Anybody have any idea what case this and what the situation on it is?

Its the case of Lee Selwyn who was a young California DJ who was run down in the Fall of 1988 by an irate motorist. Lee and a few of his friends were out riding their bikes at night when some nut named Franklin McGraham Perkins cut them off and tried to run the off the road.

When the bikers confronted Perkins, he spit in their face to the point where one biker punched out Perkins' mirrors. This enraged Perkins who chased the one biker he could zero in on (Lee Selwyn) until he ran him into a pole.

Its important to note that Selwyn wasn't even the biker that punched out Perkins window.

The segment was one of the earlier UM broadcasts, profiled in the Fall of 1988 but Perkins was not located I believe until 1993 or 1994 when he was actually outed by a Lifetime viewer.
