Cool Could Wings have gone on for 11 seasons like Cheers and Frasier did?

I don't think it could have lasted that long. I think Wings took a huge nosedive (No pun intended.) after Joe and Helen got married. I think by the time the 8th season rolled around, they were out of ideas. I thought that whole housefire story line and the brothers losing Sandpiper was just stupid. At least the cast realized it was time to call it quits and didn't go on for several more years.

It's a real shame Wings couldn't go on any longer, but after 7 1/2 years, the cast felt it was time to close the hangar and go their separate ways. Joe, Helen and the gang probably couldn't have lasted as long as even Fonzie and the gang, but 7 1/2 years is long enough for them. I can't wait until CBS Studios(Paramount's parent company in TV) releases season 5 on DVD. I'd like to see the episode "Insanity Claus", which is interesting, especially for Happy Days fans, because this reunites Crystal Bernard and Cathy Silvers, who were K.C. Cunningham and Jenny Piccalo, respectively.

I agree. 8 seasons was enough. The show was still watchable but it became the Joe and Helen show once they got married. That got old after a while. Antonio and Roy changed so much too. They had that one episode where Roy was teaching Antonio how to dance. It would have been funny if they had done it for a few seconds but it lasted several minutes. There's no way Roy would have danced with Antonio during the first 6 seasons. Antonio was just so angry and bitter those last few seasons you'd think he was going to blow up at any second and kill someone. It was funny for a few episodes but after that it was just annoying.

I agree with everyone. The quality of the show dipped in late season seven and most of eight (excluding the finale, which was great). Although Lowell wasn't a "main" character, he was my favorite and a lot of the humor went with him when he left. Had they replaced him with someone good, or at least tried a little harder, it may have been a different case. Though I'm not saying that the mechanic would have helped the show make it a few more years.

I don't think any show should last 11 years. I've always felt that five to eight years is a good lifespan for a show. And that's what "Wings" had.

That's another big reason why I can't stand to watch the last two seasons. Antonio is second only to Hawkeye from MASH on my list of TV characters who really "jumped the shark". He was such a sweet and likable guy in the early seasons and he had to become so miserable and pathetic you wondered why he still had any friends.

11 years would be overkill, unless they moved off the island I don't see how they could have added any more creativity to the show. 8 years is a good run, and they got to wrap the series up which was good.

I didn't like the show much when Lowell left, Buzz just seemed like he was reading lines that were meant for Lowell half the time. Antonio's anger was funny early on, because he'd only be angry for a few moments, but later on he was just annoying, and it wasn't funny anymore.

The thing with like Cheers and Frasier (in my opinion), was though they each went 11 years, they should've stopped way before that (like an 8 year run, ala Wings). Much like Wings, after Daphne and Niles got together, the writing went south.

And on Cheers they really limped through their last couple years. I know I'm in the minority in feeling that Wings at least finished strong even though the eps weren't up to what they were. But they're more watchable than Frasier's last few years and Cheers first few.
