walking in the building during the opening credits? I swear it looks like Sherman strolls a little harder in season one opening credits and that a different shot of them walking in the building was used for later seasons

Maybe they slowed down the film? On another note do you think they should have done away with that film at the opening and have the main titles begin in some different way? I think it was appropriate that they kept just that portion of the opening and then had the scenes from past episodes.

No I think they should have been like Welcome Back Kotter and just included different Video Footage of Manhattan from 76-85.
