Default R.I.P. "Andy Barker"?

I've just seen NBC's latest "Comedy Night Done Right" promo....and it looks like
"ANDY BARKER P.I." is as good as gone. "SCRUBS" will be seen this Thursday night at 9:30pm(et) instead!

That's too bad. I thought the show had potential.

I knew it was going to be cancelled. Damn shame too. It was the best new comedy of the season. NBC needs to move their Thursday night comedies to a different night if they are going to survive cause they can't really compete with ABC and CBS on Thursdays anymore. Even shows like the Office and My Name is Earl, as great as they are, still finish in 3rd place in their time slots most of the time on Thurdays. Andy Barker never had much of a chance.

I'm glad they're gonna air the episode that was only available online though. At least I'll have all six episodes on dvd.

Default I can imagine two NBC executives talking about this....

EXECUTIVE #1: Look, why don't we just dump this "Barker" ****...?
EXECUTIVE #2: Because CONAN O'BRIEN owns it, that's why!! We HAVE to play all six episodes or he'll do very horrible nasty things to us!!
EXECUTIVE #1: Ha-ha! Like WHAT?
{Conan and Andy suddenly lurch into their office and throw stryrofoam bricks with notes attached to them at the executives' heads, and dash out again}
EXECUTIVE #1: (feeling head as though he were hit by a real brick) Like that!!
What's the note say?
EXECUTIVE #2: "Dear NBC Executives: Play all six episodes of "ANDY BARKER P.I." or we'll take our show to another network.."
EXECUTIVE #1: THAT'S a threat?
EXECUTIVE #2: "....or we just might start our OWN network! HA-HA! Threat enough? signed, 'two mean dudes'."
EXECUTIVE #1: (after a long pause) Saturday night, 8 o'clock; last two episodes...
EXECUTIVE #2: Yeah. Imagine what's gonna happen when he takes over "THE TONIGHT SHOW".....
EXECUTIVE #1: Ohhh, man.......

You know it's really a shame. At first I have to say I didn't find the show THAT hilarious and than last Thursday I laughed out loud at it. I thought that Andy Richter is a hilarious comic actor and it's a true shame that all of his shows go down the toliet (Andy Richter Controls The Universe,Quintuplets, this) and he's only successful as Conan O'Brien's sidekick (and he isn't even THAT anymore). Yeah now it's on Saturday and I will watch it and all but...man...it'll be weird...and just sad. It is sad. A truly good new TV show goes down the toliet after competing against...what...Grey's Anatomy? I mean sure don't get me wrong a couple of the Grey's Anatomy chicks (err...I mean ladies) are attractive and all but I don't watch the show. I watch the OTHER hospital show (Scrubs) and not Grey's Anatomy. Oh well...at least it won't compete with that show. But I won't be surprised (lemme just put it at this) if the show gets horrible ratings on Saturday night. I mean, tell me...who watches TV on Saturday? Hardly anyone. Most people go out and party (I don't even think people watch SNL anymore...or MAD TV). OK,to conclude this message on a good note,at least it won't be up against a popular hospital series but rather a popular reality series (Cops) and whatever ABC (probably a movie) and CBS (probably a old people show, yeah, that's them, alright!) air. It's just...awful!

Oh and also whatever The CW and My Network TV have to air. MNT:That IFL Battleground Show. The CW:A movie or nothing. Maybe WGN will air a movie (like last week's Ghost).

Default Andy is an "acquired taste"....

....either you think he's hilarious or you don't. Most people know him from his days on "LATE NIGHT". For some reason, his personality and offbeat charm does not transfer well to prime-time. He's had three chances to succeed in a situation comedy. TV critics and a small cult of viewers LOVED "ANDY RICHTER CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE" and "'ANDY BARKER P.I."- but everyone else chose not to watch them. Barring a miracle, Andy will never get another chance to be a prime-time star again....

I like him in The New Adventures of Old Christine.
