Default "Ex, Lies and Videotape"

I just watched this episode recently and everytime I see it, I can't help but wonder why Crystal and Farrah didn't have any scenes together. I heard years ago that they didn't get along when Farrah was a regular on the show but I figured it was just a rumor and didn't really believe it though it's very strange that they didn't even have one short scene in that episode since Helen and Alex were good friends before Alex left. Helen just seemed to disappear after her and Joe talked to the Reverend Powell and that happened not even halfway through the episode. You'd think Helen would have had at least one small scene with one of the other characters when they all came back to the airport. I just thought that was very odd.

I've always wondered about that, too. When I first saw it on USA, I figured, maybe they shared a short scene together and it was cut from reruns. So when N@N showed it, I was hoping to see a scene, because they had different edits. However, no such scene was shown. That's one of the main reasons that the episode isn't one of my favorites. Alex comes back and it's just so casual. Then after dumping Brian she leaves again. It was still nice to see Alex again, but it did feel incomplete without an Alex/Helen scene. Much like how the series finale of "That '70s Show". In which Eric (Topher Grace) came back in the last five minutes of the show and had NO scenes with his parents. When a character comes back, it's nice to see them with all the current cast members.

BTW, I never heard anything about Farrah Forke and Crystal Bernard disliking eachother. It's a shame if it's true, but I guess just because they played friends on a TV show, doesn't mean they're friends in real life. It's just so nice when it turns out to be true.

Also, there was no Casey in that episode. I guess they felt they had too many characters already or something. And in the (might have been) next episode, Casey's only in like one bit. It's the episode with Brian making that video about Joe and Helen, and it's a flashback episode.

Yeah, that's the first thing I thought when I saw that episode. The episodes that aired on N@N are about 30-45 seconds shorter than the unedited episodes so maybe they had a scene and they just cut it when it went into syndication. I guess we'll find out when the Season 6 dvd comes out.

I agree. The only thing I didn't like about the final episode was Eric not having any scenes with his parents. And I think I would have liked "Ex, Lies and Videotape" a lot more if Helen and Alex had one scene. I didn't think it was a bad episode but it could have been better.

I think I might have heard that at the old Wings newsgroup but it was a long time ago so I'm not sure. With the cast of Wings, they all had great chemistry with each other, you'd think they were all good friends in real life. Especially Joe and Brian.

That's right, I never gave that much thought since Alex was there.

I thought they dumped Alex because the writers couldn't come up with any more storylines for her and she wasn't very well-liked by many fans. I feel like I'm in the minority, but I liked her.

I thought they should have done a scene with Alex and Helen. They also should have had Joe and Helen say goodbye to Roy in the finale.

My only theories on Alex's departure were 1), storyline related. They didn't want Brian settling down. Or 2), Crystal felt threatened by Farrah. Even if it a bit mannish, the breast implants got *my* attention anyway. But it's odd Crystal would let it go two years before getting her off.

I think Roy was being too much of a hothead in the finale after the Sandpiper/Aeromass merger contracts were torn up, hehe.
