do you think Maude could have lasted 11 seasons Like The Jeffersons? The Jeffersons which is All In the Family Most Sucessful And Longest running spinoff,The Jeffersons also Outlasted All In The family for 2 more seasons.

A simple answer to this is NO, simply because it didn't.

As far as we know, CBS wanted a 7th year out of the show, so we would've been guaranteed at least that much. But 11 seasons? Who's to say? If the writing was as sharp as it was during the height of its popularity and the network didn't mess around with its timeslot, then there's no reason to think it couldn't have had another 5 years after the show's last. i think the show had the power to last 11 years, but Bea Arthur wanted to leave and the show Ratings were Droping big time because Cbs keep changing timeslot.
The Jeffersons came on the air in 1974-75 on a Saturday night, the show finish it first season as 4th ranked show then after it first season Cbs started changing timeslots and nights for the next 4 years.the second season was a drop in the ratings to 21st, then the 3rd season was 24th place, the the show was out of the top 30 for the 77-78 and 78-79 season. the show was almost canceled during the 77-78 and 78-79 season Because of Failing Ratings ,because cbs were changing timeslots. but in June of 1979 cbs put the show on sunday and the Jeffersons Ratings Suddenly skyrocked back to the top 10 and the show was renewed for season 6. Season 6 is what Really Saved The Jeffersons And Keep The Show Running For 5 More Years the show stayed on Sunday for the the last 5 seasons where it got the best ratings in years and stayed in the top 10/20 from season 6-season 10,ranking 8th in season 6, 6th place in season 7.3rd place in season 8 the show was 12th in the 9th season, then down to 19th place in the tenth season before dropping out of the top 20 again in the 11th season where it ranked 56th place, then Cbs canceled the show without a warning in march of 1985. so those middle years of the Jeffersons and it sunday night timeslot are what saved the show and keep them lasting 5 more years. |

I think Bea Arthur was right to pull the plug when she did. I personally don't think it would've lasted 10 years. Kudos to her for walking away while the going was still good.
