What I have is a recording of the episode from the USA network, which aired the series between 1992 & 1995.
The episodes that aired on USA were extremely chopped up; I know this because I was able to catch a lot of the episodes later when TVLand aired the series for a short time. When I caught "The Slightly Illustrated Man" on TVLand, there was some dialogue between Kip and Sonny that I had never seen before. This takes place towards the end of the episode, when Kip and Sonny are alone in the apartment, and Kip is trying to convince her that he's ready for a commitment. In the USA network version, Kip tells her he needs to talk to her; then, it just cuts to Kip saying something along the lines of: "I'm ready, Sonny", and there's a short moment of silence, and he says: "just jump in there anytime.. okay, but it hurts, and it hurts a lot". Then Sonny just replies: "Kip, I'm so sorry". In this version(USA network), she never explains anything, but I know the TVLand version added a little more to this scene. If anyone has the TVLand version recorded, or somehow even has an older, syndicated version, where the scene isn't edited, would someone possibly be willing to type out the additional conversation that took place during this scene? I couldn't believe they'd cut out dialogue from such a key scene, and I never knew till I saw it on TVLand. |
