Smile Pilot Episode

Hey guys. I was just watching the pilot episode, and I was wondering, did it seem kinda just thrown together from the original pilot(with Elizabeth Ward) to you guys? It did to me. I mean, it's a good episode. You get to see the characters, and get to know them a bit. But, the thing is, I noticed like in the jail seen, you didn't see Carol until they were just leaving, and you see a bit of her hair, and body. Did to any of you, did it seem like it might have been Elizabeth Ward? Another thing, when Carol(Tracey Gold) and Mike were in the kitchen, his hair was all curly, but then, when Jason came down to talk to him, it seemed more flat and straight. I don't know. These were just a couple of things that I had noticed. Maybe it's just my imagination. Thanks for reading!!

Not your imagination. After Elizabeth Ward was fired and Tracey Gold was added to the cast the pilot had to be reshot, and to save on money only the speaking scenes with Tracey were refilmed, so yes it is really kind of thrown together. You can see Elizabeth Ward in the background of the police station in the pilot that aired if you look closely. I think thats why Mikes hair is different those scenes were shot at different time. Mikes hair is also strait when he is talkng to Jason about going to the club.

You're right! I just got done rewatching the pilot, and scenes from the original pilot with Elizabeth ward. You can see her pretty clearly in the police station, now that I was paying closer attention. I guess they figured that the series might not be worth the extra money, in case it didn't make it, but obviously it did. Also, although I think that Elizabeth Ward would've made a better Carol, I don't really think her chemistry w/Kirk Cameron was all that great. I think the chemistry was vital, in order to get alot of the jokes off. I didn't honestly feel it w/the scenes w/her. I like Tracey Gold alot better in the role. I don't know, maybe given time, the chemistry would have developed. I guess we'll never know! Thank you so much for pointing these things out to me! You were a big help!!
