I would like to start a discussion on a former Philadelphia TV station WKBS channel 48 which existed from 9/1/65 to 8/30/83 which I don't remember at all. What did you like about the programming on the station overall and what was your favorite programs that WKBS-TV aired in its history and why. For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WKBS-TV_(Philadelphia) and http://www.broadcastpioneers.com/wkbssignoff.html and http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/WKBS48Club/

well; I grew up in Philadelphia (or "philly" which is its nickname) and I remember the station well I remember in the 60s, on weekday afternoons they used to show a kids show called "Dickory-Doc". It was about a guy who was, I think, a toymaker who hosted cartoons. That's about all I remember, also that he supposedly lived near the home of the 7 dwarfs from "Snow White and the 7 dwarfs" and every now and then they used to show a clip of them walking along and singing from the Disney movie while he waved to them.
I also remember in the early 80s, they used to rerun "WKRP in Cinncinatti" along with "Mork and Mindy", "The 6 million dollar man", "The Bionic woman", "Night Gallery" and "The Honeymooners" on weeknights. Sometime in the mid-to-late 80s, though, the station went bankrupt or something, but came back in the 90s with new call letters (call letters are the "W....whatever, like WKRP or WTBS or whatever) and a new name, WGTW (previously, it had been WKBS) but now, they're a religous station and I don't know if it's still WGTW or not. |

Maybe you might remember the station by viewing these 2 clips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXIFPBYRkUg and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUaKnAVb-2g
If you have any programming that you recorded on the old WKBS-TV 48 in Philadelphia from 1965 to 1983, please post video of it on you tube. |

I only remember WGTW 48, which changed to an all religious format recently.

I'm from the Philly area and I remember this station. What I remember most is watching cartoons and The Monkees after school in the 70's and also a show starring Marty Jacobs. |

I think they were. Back then there was only three channels besides the main three that cartoons were shown on. Channels 17, 29 and 48.

no, "Hogans Heroes" was on channel 29; not 48.
I remember watching "I Love Lucy", "The Lucy show", "Wonder Woman", "The Bob Newhart show", "The Dick Van Dyke show", "Sanford and son", "The Jeffersons", "All in the Family", "Mork and Mindy", and "The Beverly Hillbillies" on there. This was before they went off the air which; like I said before, was sometime in the mid-80s. |

I don't ever remember seeing "The Bannana Splits" in reruns; so I can't tell you what channel it was on. And, channel 57 has only been around since about 1987.
(my name's Joe by the way-since I know your first name; you might as well know mine )
