Default Jeffersons Season Six, video issue..

Seems like the 1st disc is suffering from a jerkin' picture...seems to be poor video tape transfer issue. I am really disappointed and have read that others are experiencing the same thing. At 1st I thought it was my equipment, but after playing in 2 different players it continues...

Sony really messed up on this one.. !!

I put in Disc 1 and check out all the eps and they all look fine to me. Very Clear and Crisp Quality. Beautiful Picture. This is the best Quality I seen out of all the Seasons released on DVD

well, consider yourself lucky because reviews online say otherwise about this release, ex. below is taken from http://www.movieweb.com/dvd/release/...review2259.php

The Look
Full Screen - 1.33:1. Okay, the picture itself, taken simply as one frame, looked pretty darn good. However, something has happened to these shows in their compression. That has got to be what has given these episodes a "ghost-like" effect. The characters all seem to be moving just a step slower than normal. Things aren't as fluid as they should be at all. While this didn't ruin the viewing experience, it is annoying and somewhat distracting. Judge for yourself, but I am surprised that Sony would put out a release this way.

I noticed the same thing on my copy as well. I dont know why the picture is like that. I popped in disc 2 and it is much better than disc 1. The picture is clearer and coler is also better. I wonder what happened with disc 1?

The main point is it doesn't ruin the viewing experience so this is a DEAD ISSUE. Nothing to complain about at all. Now if this was an EDITING ISSUE then I would understand

Well, the quality is cheap compared to the previous releases and disc 2. The episodes on disc 1 should look like the eppys in disc 2. And they do not. I havent checked disc 3 yet. In my opinion it does ruin the viewing experience.

I agree.. SONY should have resolved this issue b4 putting it on the shelves. Im kind of shocked they left it as is.

I thought it was an editing issue (for particular episodes). I noticed it very much in "Short Story" from Disc 1, but I've watched a couple of minutes of "Now You See It, Now You Don't" and I didn't see anything (so far). I noticed that weird look on my first season set as well (on the episode where Uncle Ward comes to visit). They look like they weren't edited or something. It almost looks like a live taping. We should probably get used to those episodes being like that, because there's no way that Sony will reissue a dvd set of a 70's tv show for any reason.

Why do you feel Short Story was Edited?

I don't think it was edited (as in cut short). It seemed to me that the weird look of the video in the episode is an editing issue.
