This is in response to a post by "energy" on the Reign is Over thread. I was going to post on the thread but I felt that most of you would have the same feelings as well and would like to vent as well.
I kind of added to energy's comments while making some of my own. If you need to vent let's here it. Quote:
First let me say that I agree it is sad to watch the promos but I have been seeing it left and right so at least they are showing they care about the show for once. It's nice that they don't have to play second fiddle to Everybody Loves Raymond and other shows any more. I also agree that this show could keep going. I know lots of other series that where good in their day but went a little too long and where really pushing for episodes. Shows that I liked a lot and where good for say 4-5 seasons but I was glad when they ended a few seasons later because I didn't want to see them continue to be inferior to previous seasons. Nobody wants to see their favorite shows like that. However, KOQ is doing really well and although there was a slight decrease in episode "quality" sort of speak in season 7, season 8 picked right back up and was as good as many of the other seasons. Sure Arthur (Jerry Stiller) may not be able to be in as many episodes but they made it work in the eighth season when Jerry couldn't handling all the traveling and was only in a few of the episodes. Part of the reason that season 7 went downhill is because Spence, Deacon and Danny where sparse in episodes and Kevin seemed to be focusing on his movie career. Like I said IMO season 8 picked right back up and we got to see more of Deacon, Danny and Spence so I see no reason why they can't keep going if those guys want to. It's not like CBS has to make room for better shows. Face it people, good sitcoms like KOQ are a dying breed. The King of Queens might be "the last good sitcom." Sitcoms are becoming more sparse and reality shows, game shows, and cop dramas are more popular. Quite frankly, I don't want to see so called "reality" shows which couldn't be further from reality in my honest opinion. Nor would I want to see murders left and right. Some of you may like that CSI type stuff but it's down right disgusting to me. What happened to good ole' comedy? Remember TGIF? You could watch Boy Meets World, Family Matters and Step By Step all in one night. Now I can't even find 3 total shows of that quality on all of television including cable/satellite. Then again, all good things must come to an end. As painful as it is, the cast probably wants to move on as well. Kevin is looking to do movies, Leah probably will be happy just raising her daughter and Jerry wants to spend his last days at home enjoying life. Some of us have grown up with this show and some just look at it as a relief from the hassles of every day. Either way it will be tough to deal with this show ending. |

I'll miss the show too, I've been watching some of the reruns on the CW &
those older episodes still crack me up. I wish it could run for a few more seasons. |

It's comforting to know others are feeling the same way. Hopefully when Sony does the season 9 DVD, they'll really let the fans see the behind-the-scenes of the final episode and allow the cast to talk about what the show has meant to them and what their future plans are. And I mean the whole cast -- Victor Williams (Deacon), Patton Oswalt (Spence), etc. You kind of fall in love with all of these guys after 9 seasons.

KoQ is the ONLY show where EVERY SINGLE EPISODE IS FUNNY AND ENJOYABLE TO WATCH. Not a single dud in the bunch. There are NO pointless episodes, there are NO boring episodes, there are NO stupid episodes...THEY ARE ALL GREAT.

Irene - I agree and it doesn't matter what episode, obviously some are funnier than others, they all still bring me joy when I watch them.

For 1-8 I was glad they came out so fast but they really didn't have any extras at all. With this season I am willing to wait the extra time to get the set if, like you said, they can get interviews and some reactions of the whole cast. If you guys seen the pictures they had them all together at the series wrap up party so I don't see why they can't get them back for commentary/extras for the dvd set. I should say all but Larry Ramano and Nicole Sullivan where there but they left the show already. I fully agree with your point about the cast talking about the show and what it meant to them. I think that should be a must on the extras. The show has done wonders for all of them so I would be upset if they wouldn't comment on that stuff. Let's hope for the best.
