Best actors/actresses at playing drunk?? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

As far as actresses, I think Lucy tops this category: from the infamous Vitameatavegamin (or however you spell it) commercial to her drunk scene in Yours, Mine, and Ours, she actually looked tanked!!

For actors, I have to pick Dick Wilson. While he is best known as "Mr. Whipple" in the Charmin ads, he was always playing a drunk in Bewitched episodes. He had the drunk walk and speech down to a science!! Years later, he appeared in an episode of Tabitha as - what else - a drunk.

I think that is one sign you can do comedy - if you can play a good drunk scene. Yes, I know I'm weird.

Foster Brooks made a career out of playing a drunk on tons of TV shows in his career. He was hysterical.

The cast of "M*A*S*H" had some actors who played great drunks. Maclean Stevenson, Loretta Switt, Gary Berghoff, Harry Morgan, David Ogden Stires...

On a early episode of Happy Days, Ritchie & Potsie go to a bachelor party &
get drunk, they played the part very well and it was pretty funny.

Lucy's hilarious role stands out as the best. My 2nd choice goes to Marla Gibbs in the ep. of "The Jeffersons" when Florence thinks everyone forgot her birthday. She and Mr. Bentley were just funny drunk.

My picks would be the cast of MASH-mostly Lorreta Swit and Gary Burghoff; but the others were good too. Like Harry Morgan and Gary Burghoff in the scene from the episode with Donalds bachelor party.

Radar: "CO. POTTER! PERMISSION TO GO OUTSIDE AND GET SICK"?

And later, when Potter's leaving, he sees Radar on the ground passed out-

Potter" Come on Radar, get up. You-you'll get dirt in your nose".

Radar: "OK Uncle Ed, but what are all these tents doing in our yard"?
