received a badly torned 5 Dollar bill when they recieved change from a cashier, that you would ask for another one. Am I right? This morning this Dunkin Donuts Cashier gave me a badly ripped 5 Dollar bill and when I asked for another 5 Dollar Bill she gets an attitude? Why??-lol Am I the only one who would have asked for a better looking 5 dollar bill?

I don't think it is that big of a deal to ask for a new one. I personally wouldn't ask for a new one unless it was like a half of a bill.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. I can especially understand if it was a one dollar bill, since vending machines don't accept chewed up looking ones.

No, I don't think she should give you an attitude, but at the same time, I don't think it is that big of a deal. |

If the bill was a mess, I wouldn't accept it. That happens very rarely, to me anyway. Most stores turn the ratty, worn out bills into the bank, who takes them out of circulation.

I really couldn't care less. Just a piece of paper. It'll be out of my hands soon enough.

I was trying to prevent it from tearing while it was in my wallet. So I normally try to keep bills that are in good shape |

You should've accepted it and used it the next time you were in Dunkin Donuts and preferably with the same cashier.

The thing that gets me is when I get cash from a bank, and they hand over extremely worn and even torn/taped bills. It's the job of the bankers to remove these worn-out bills from circulation (they can return them, I believe to the Fed Reserve).

I usually pass them on to the next store I visit, so it doesn't bother me if they're ripped. But I know some people don't like to have them in their wallet
(my husband for one). He asks politely for an exchange & usually gets it without any trouble. |

As a cashier I wouldn't care if you asked for a new one. I wouldn't give it a second thought. People are always wanting change for a dollar so there kids can have quarters for those little machines. I break $50's a lot too. It really isn't a big deal.
