Default Sleep drug killed Anna Nicole, 2 mags claim

Sleep drug killed Anna, 2 mags say

Anna Nicole Smith died of a lethal level of a potent sleep medication, but she had a raging blood infection that could have killed her had she not overdosed, an exclusive report revealed yesterday.

Smith took the speedy sleep-inducer chloral hydrate, which is sometimes used in "date rape" drugs, the night of Feb. 7 and never woke up, according to a joint investigation by sister publications the National Enquirer and the Star.

In its most stunning disclosure, the report says Smith's life might have been saved had she simply gone to a hospital rather than treating her severe fever, nausea and other infection symptoms on her own.

Smith's lawyer pal Howard K. Stern, a bodyguard and a nurse were with her in the days and hours leading up to her death.

The magazines' report comes days before Broward County Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua Perper is set to reveal his official findings about what killed the 39-year-old ex-model, who died Feb. 8 at a Florida hotel.

Smith's infection, which drove her temperature to a staggering 105 degrees, was caused by an injection in her left buttock with a needle that apparently was not properly sterilized, according to the report, posted on the Enquirer and Star Web sites.

Tests did not reveal what substance had been injected into Smith three days before she died, but a painful abscess developed, the report said.

They're going to announce Monday at 10:30 how she died..If that is true its a shame her nurse wouldn't do more to make her go to the hospital. and i'm pretty surpised there were no other drugs in her system. I never thought it'd be sleeping pills

Catherine Crier did an entire show on this on Court TV earlier. If this is all true, and I believe it is, I think those who were with Anna are to blame. Anna was deathly sick, vomiting, diarrhea with a 105 temperature. She was in no condition to make decisions. The abscess on her rear was terrible. They had no business treating her with over-the-counter meds and an ice bath. She had a raging infection in her body. She needed to be in a hospital. They didn't want the bad publicity.

Just like the R&B Singer Gerald Levert. They initially said a heart attack killed him. Later, it was learned he had pneumonia and was treating it with over the counter meds along with the other prescriptions he was taking, it was a deadly combination. Official cause of death: drug overdose.

Since those two deaths, I have been deathly afraid of mixing any medications. My boyfriend has been prescribed some new meds to treat high blood pressure and cholesterol. He needed some over the counter pain killler to help with some pain the other night, but was so afraid, so he didn't.

I'm afraid to mix meds too. I too am wondering about the people with Anna. If she was that ill, they should've gotten her to a hospital, pronto. That's why this whole situation is very fishy to me.

I just dont understand what kind of nurse wouldn't take someone to the hospital in those conditions.

You're absolutely right. My mother is a retired nurse, and she has been following this story closely. She says she would've driven Anna to the hospital herself in that situation, immediately. I think they are trying to cover up something, for sure.

If this report is true, Anna didn't die from mixing medications. She died from a lethal overdose of the sleep medication, chloral hydrate.

The woman was deathly sick for three days. It's getting harder and harder for the Stern defenders. There's no excuse for this. My husband would have called 911 the first day if I was that ill, and I'd do the same for him. What happened to Anna is disgraceful. I'd like to know where she got the chloral hydrate. I'd also like to know where Danielle got the methadone.

Stern is in a house that's not his, with a child that's most likely not his. I'm hating this creep more and more as the facts emerge. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but no more.

I can't help but think of Elvis Presley when I read abt Anna's life. Elvis didn't go to doctors or hospitals, THEY WENT TO HIM. Some celebs tend to live in this "bubble" existence.

Very true. But in Anna's case, as Janice said, she was dangerously ill for several days and no one took her to a doctor or a hospital. Her life could have been spared. Very scary situation. If my suspicions about Stern are true, losing custody of the baby is the LEAST of his problems.

She was always in and out of hospitals. I guess the people around her figured it was another one of her episodes but the nurse of all people shouldve known better. I really thought her death was going to be methadone related.

She probably didnt get ill until they were in Florida. Her bodyguard said that since she was sick she sent Howard and him out to do the paperwork for the boat.

I heard on a news show that Gerald took like 3 kinds of pain killers and that's what killed him.
