I thought it was weird that they mixed real flashbacks with made-up flashbacks to the days before the show aired, with different actors playing the kids. You would have thought that a show with 7 years worth of episodes wouldn't have to film fake flashbacks. The one that really tricked me was one with Jason and Mike talking, and Mike had straight hair. He looked like he was 2 years younger than he was when the show started. It had to be a different actor, but it looked just like him. Did he have a (much) younger real-life brother who looked just like him? None of those faux-flashback actors are listed in the credits.

They didn't fake any of the clips, sometimes there is a big gap between the time the pilot is filmed and the show gets on the air, and at kirks age kids change quick - and hair makes a huge difference, maybe the hair people just really sucked that day. watch the pilot and you see that it is him he just looks so wrong without the curls.

I was also wondering why they picked clips from the last season in it- and from really stupid episodes, it was a waste of time- and chrissy got to much air time and took away from the rest of the family, and this episode should have focused entirely on the real cast- not these junky characters with no purpose.

I alwasy hated chrissy, she was loud and shrill and a punishment to watch.

The "flashback" of Mike and Carol at like 5 years old, was a flashback from "Graduation", where Carol reflects about a making a bet with Mike when they were kids that he'd never "gradulate".

Mike does call Luke but it appeared to be edited out. I remember seeing it on the original ABC airing.

The whole last season was a wash-out, and the final ep was mostly a drag. Mike being braindead with Kate about cooking and cleaning, and Ben having to act out with stuffed animals to make Chrissy feel better.

I did enjoy the shot of the empty set, crazy to see it completely bare. But forgetting one picture so that Maggie can go back in, kind of dweeby. Still a good final wide shot of the living room at the very end.

I guess I've never seen the pilot. Last night they showed the Springsteen episode (2nd of season 1) and he had curly hair.

I just checked IMDB, and there also was an unaired pilot that cast Elizabeth Ward as Carole. The test audience didn't like her so the role was recast. It must have been devestating to her, as that was her last TV credit.

Yeah, Ward's portion of the episode is available on the season 1 dvd. Didn't think she was awful, just a lil gawky lookin'. Must crush her to watch that, to see the cast go on to 7 years worth of episodes and set for life.

Hello!!! The show ran its course and it showed in the final season. It was a great family show to watch in the first four seasons and it was going downhill each season. It was bad enough how the show wrote Carol and what was so bad about it was Tracey Gold did not have a weight problem. If anyone on the show to me looked thicked was Ben and Jason. The way Ben ate was gross and it displayed gluttony. That was not a good example. The way Mike constantly made fun of Carol's weight and as Ben got older he was going there as well. That hurt Tracey and part of it attribute to her disorder. Glad she is well and raising a family.

I just watched the final episode, and got all teary eyed. Mike did make fun of his sister alot, but that is just what goes on in every family, and if you knew anything about the show, then you would know that he didn't really mean any of it.
