Rare on-set color footage... - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

From what I heard the "I Love Lucy" Seasons 7-9 DVD Set includes about 4 minutes of rare on-set color footage. I haven't bought the video yet so I wanted to ask those here who did purchase it what they think about it. What
does it show and is it unique as some people are saying?

The color footage is probably the highlight of the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" DVD set, and is great to see.

The color footage was linked together with black and white footage from the actual show, and also shows Lucy and Desi/the director preparing for the final scene.

I have posted some screen captures from the color footage, as well as a couple from these new DVDs' menu: http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...LColorFootage/. Note that there are two pages of screen captures.

More on-set color footage from "I Love Lucy" and "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" DOES exist, and bits of this footage were included on "Lucy & Desi: A Home Movie"...they were taken by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz's personal silent film camera (either 8mm or 16mm), during rehersals and/or actual filmings of some episodes.

This other color material exists for ILL's "Lucy Goes to Scotland", LDCH's "Lucy Goes to Sun Valley" and "Lucy Goes to Mexico", maybe even some other episodes.

Here are some screen captures:

"I Love Lucy" -- "Lucy Goes to Scotland"

"Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" -- "Lucy Goes to Mexico"

Hopefully, we'll get all the "Lucy" color footage released on DVD someday...

BTW, some color publicity stills for "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" are also included on the recently released DVD set.

All my daughter commented was on how orange Lucy's hair really looked.

For sure the footage is interesting, for historical purposes anyway. I wouldn't be surprised that the Lucy/Desi personal film collection there would be more color footage, but if I was the Arnaz children I probably wouldn't release to much of it. While it is part of the show's history, it is their personal film. At the same time, it would be nice to see! Who knows, maybe someday!

(Maybe Lucy footage will become bootlegged like the Beatles films, interviews, etc.!)

That would be great if there ends up being more color footage in existence.
I definitely will celebrate if that day ever comes.

There's also some color footage from "Lucy Hunts Uranium," I remember seeing clips of Bill Frawley and Vivian Vance from this special on the Lucy and Desi:A Home Movie special.

It's been a few years since I last saw the "Lucy and Desi: A Home Movie special" so I don't remember seeing that color footage. I'll have to search through my DVDs and check it out.
