Default Nearing the end of Charlotte Rae's final season...

Did it seem like she put on a little weight, even though she lost weight in the 2nd Season. Not a whole lot of weight on, but did it seem noticable later on? It must have been the dresses she wore later on...I don't know.

It seemed like in her final season she was just there. Charlotte did not have the same energy nor edge to play Mrs. Garrett as in the earlier seasons. I guess with her being phased out and Charlotte wanted out she was going through the motions. I did like how she let her hair down a few episodes in that final seaons. Her departure left a huge void in the show.

I agree, I am currently watching re-runs of Charlotte's final season and I keep thinking to myself this is not the same Mrs.G that I am so used to seeing. No longer was she giving advice or acting as a mentor to the four girls she just seemed like she was like you said "going through the motions." Just like in reality, I think as the girls got older they were doing their own thing and no longer needing to confide in Mrs.G anymore. In last nights episode where Natalie is stuck in a truckstop, Mrs. G is hardly in the episode except in the end. It is too bad she did have to leave the show prior to the final episode.

I don't think she put on weight in her last season (not that it matters), I do know her hairstyles changed in different episodes.

I did like the hairstyle she wore on one of the episodes in her final season on the show where it was down. She looked good without it being up. It was good to bring closure to her character by marrying her off at the beginning of the following season.

Charlotte Rae is an excellent comedienne and underrated. If you saw in All In the Family where Archie came up missing you would see what an excellent comedienne she is. She was a riot as the tupperware party lady. In Facts of Life she was not fully ultized as a comedienne.

yayayayayyayayay!!!!!!!! Somebody else who's seen her in that role!!!!!!!!!! I'm jumping up and down right now, too bad you cannot see it. i LOVED her in that role!!!! oh goodness i taped it at like a 4 am slot and watched it when i woke up and was getting ready for school and i had to have watched it like at least 2 or 3 times that morning and then all night until FOL was on NaN that night... but man i loved her in that! She really is a WONDERFUL comedian, the worst which was good, she actually had her mrs. garrett type of role in that with one of the twins she played, but it's interesting how many things she's been in and she's great! Great timing, great rambunctiousness... it's just all there all the time and i love that about her!!!

I too LOVE her hair down, in Ballroom dancing she wears it down and it's sooooo cute. And yes, it is weird how throughout the 7th season when she's actually there she usually has a background role, not much advice giving to the girls, but one of my favorite 7th season episodes is We Get Letters... where her friend Gwen accuses her of having an affair with her husband. This is a WONDERFUL episode, there is a moment with Natalie and Mrs. G too, not a BIG moment, but a moment. And of course, i love Out of Peekskill 1 and 2, but i cry everytime i see it!!!

I like her hairdo in the last season. Better than the Diff'rent Strokes hairdo, plus earlier FOL hairdos she supported. I know she wore many wigs on both shows, but I like when it was down. Though I thought she looked great in the pink wig she supported in The Worst Witch....vicious and crueeeel. Hey, Pink, you got a competition who started pink hair before anybody else thought of it.

YES! I was so surprised when I first saw that episode. She was also hysterical on an episode of Good Times when James and Florida are trying to get jobs at a department store. She took a liking to James Evans. That episode surprised me too. I was like "OMG! It's Charlotte Rae!!!"
