Replacing Defective Disks - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

well, when you are an avid collector of TV shows and buy as many sets as I do, it has to happen to you eventually... i've been pretty lucky so far.

for me it was Disk one of the Remington Steele Season 2 box set - the second episode will not play AT ALL - it jumps and freezes, no sound just a bunch of blocky pixellated mess until the last 5 minutes of the episode.

Anyways, once I calmed down over the frustration of missing the details of such a critical episode in the series (Mildred starts working at the agency, Laura's house gets burnt down, someone tries to kill her, she "opens up" to Steele, and moves into her new loft) I realized that I had NO IDEA how to get the disk replaced

so after some creative Googling I discovered that I need to
send an email to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment at foxdrop@4icc.com, describe the problem and ask for a replacement disk.

I thought it would be a good idea if we had a thread here dedicated to information on replacing defective box sets for all the varius companies. - it might just come in handy for the next person looking for the same info

Do you need the reciept? I too have this problem but bought this ages ago. Guess I could just "rebuy it" leave it sealed, copy THAT reciept and then return the sealed set afterwards.

don't know - i just emailed them this morning, I got mine from Amazon so if i have to I can just print out a copy of the invoice or give them my order #

do you have any of the seasons after the second? - had any problems with those ones yet? I'm trying to go through them quickly, but I have the next 2-1/2 seasons yet to watch.

Hmm, I think 3 may have had a problem, but actually compared to Dragnet and the A team.... Rem's was at least passable.

that happened to me twice-with 1 of the shows on disc 2 of the 1st season set of THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW. I just e-mailed the company, they said to send it back and they'll send me a replacment. So I did and they did!
Then it also happened with a 3 STOOGES DVD. Again; I mailed it back and they sent me a replacment. Simple as that!

well I wanted to add an update to this -

Tuesday (April 3rd) after hearing NOTHING from Fox Home Entertainment for almost 2 weeks, I send them another email asking again for help... I then forwarded the SAME email to Amazon (where I purchased the set from - this was my first contact with them about this problem).

So Wednesday when I get home from work I discover that Amazon had shipped me out a replacement set NEXT DAY AIR, no questions asked.

I guess it pays to have an Amazon PRIME membership!

So then Thursday I finally get a response from FHE telling to me to send in the defective set for possible replacement...

so today (Friday) I sent another email to Amazon asking if I should send the defective set back to them or to FHE...

I bought season 1 of Gilmore Girls from amazon, and ALL of the discs were scratched when I received it. When I'd try to watch an episode, it would keep skipping and freezing. I sent an email to amazon and they sent out a replacement, again, with no questions asked. Amazon rocks.
