The unspoken tv shows. Wrestling, haha. But it was some of tv at it's best. Starting back in the 80's with shows like Saturday Nights Main Event. Then the boom of the 90's when two hour shows aired both on Mondays and Thursdays for both WWF and WCW. The 90's was a super decade for wrestling. You had the clash of the titans between WWF and WCW and on the side you had ECW. But it seems that in the new century, wrestling has been suffering. WCW sold out to WWF. WWF gradually reduced in quality. I mean you have an upstart TNA but progress is slow.

I lost alot of interest in wrestling when Jim Crockett sold out to Ted Turner. The name Crockett and the NWA were synonymous with wrestling and after the sellout, It went downhill from there.

Actually I sterted watching wrestling back in the early 70's.The best wrestling show ever IMO was Georgia Championship Wrestling in the late 70's through 1984 that aired on Ted Turners Superstation.I used to watch that religiously every Saturday night.I have a bunch of full episodes on DVD from 1981-1982.I agree with Zoneboy on the Crockett wrestling. However the post sale to Turner 1989 wasn't too bad.You had feuds like Steamboat/Flair,The Great Muta/Sting.Terry Funk came in and did a great job.
Anyway when the regions were swallowed up by McMahon and Crockett I started to lose interest. When Hulk Hogan went to WCW it got terribly worse.Nowadays I rarely watch.McMahon really runs a monopoly and it's not wrestling anymore. It's sports entertainment.Apples to oranges. |

I started watching in the 70's also but didn't see the Georgia shows until the early 80's. That was also some great wrestling along with Florida.

Honestly, I think that 1995 thru 1998 WCW, was the best time in wrestling.
