Default Depp 'Quits Acting' Until Daughter's Recovery

HOLLYWOOD - Johnny Depp has reportedly quit acting until his daughter Lily-Rose recovers from an undisclosed illness.

Depp is currently working on a movie version of stage musical Sweeney Todd in England, but has halted filming until the four-year-old recovers.

Lily-Rose was admitted to an English hospital at the end of February, with Depp and partner Vanessa Paradis at the child's bedside ever since.

Staff members at Pinewood Studios have reportedly been told they will lose their jobs over the weekend if Depp does not return to the movie set.

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "He does not want to come back until Lily-Rose gets the all-clear. The plan is to reemploy everybody when she gets better."

That's really too bad. It doesn't sound like things are going that well if he's not going back to work. They should recast the lead if he's gonna be gone that long (I don't think he'd make a very strong Sweeney Todd, but that's neither here nor there). I hope Lily's better soon.

It sounds like Depp has his priorities in order. His place is with his ill daughter. He'd never forgive himself if, well, I won't say it...I agree with his decision. Prayers to Lily-Rose.

I seriously doubt Tim Burton is going to fire his friend Johnny Depp from "Sweeny Todd." They can probably film around him for now, or shut down production for a short time to rearrange the shooting schedule.

Anyone know what's wrong with the girl?

I know. But I have serious doubts about him being able to pull off all the singing that's required in a Sondheim musical. Mandy Patinkin or Tim Curry would have been much better suited. And it looks like this is going to put a quite a few people out of work for awhile.

But I agree, it's definately important for Johnny to be with his daughter. I just hope that it doesn't cause too much trouble for the other people involved.

There are a number of newspapers/magazines/shows that all claim they know what it is, but have decided to keep it quiet for Johnny's privacy. This is really, really weird for Britain's media (almost as gossipy as our own). So either they all got really big-hearted all of a sudden or it's really, really bad. Or they just haven't been able to find out and are trying to cover it up. I hope that's the case.

I'm glad that JD has dropped everything to be by his daughter's side. I hope she is on the road to recovery!!

I wish Johnny's daughter the best, he can afford to take a leave of absence for awhile.

Best thing he can do, I would do the same thing, my daughter is my life, without her nothing else matters.
