Default "I Love Lucy" Seasons 7-9 DVD Set

I had a chance to preview the new DVD last night and I must say, we're all in for a wonderful treat! Kudos to the hard work and effort that was put into this one. You will find that the presentation (background graphics, menus, etc.) is visually much more appealing than the previous "I Love Lucy" DVD releases. It has a much more upbeat look and feel, which incorporates those adorable Lucy and Desi stick figures. The artistic aspect of the new set is mostly the vision and work of Jonathan Angus. This set also includes a lot of extras that I find more interesting than the ones used on the earlier DVDs. And they managed to find a wonderfully pristine copy of the full 75-minute "Havana" episode. It's looks beautiful!

A lot of time and hard work went into this DVD set, especially from Tom and Jonathan. And you folks should know that the team who worked on this did so for little to nothing. It was really just a labor of love. It's also important to know that CBS wasn't too keen on putting out this set in the first place. It took some arm twisting. And it's unlikely there will be any releases of "The Lucy Show" unless this set sells really well. CBS will be paying attention to how well this set sells, so please keep that in mind if you want to see them put out sets of "The Lucy Show." You can be a part in making that happen just by supporting this LDCH DVD set. And I promise you, you won't be disappointed. After what I saw yesterday, I am VERY eager for my own set to arrive in the mail this week. It's wondaful!

That really is a shame. I thought they would follow-up with "The Lucy Show" for sure. Very disappointing.

Though studios do pay attention to each others sales, Paramount owns and would distribute The Lucy Show, so it has nothing to do with how well I Love Lucy/Lucy Desi Hours sell......nothing has stopped paramount from starting to sell seasons of The Lucy Show years ago...

CBS and Paramount are now the same company, so yes, it does matter to them how well the LDCH DVD sells.

Here's an interesting read on the history of CBS Paramount Television. The ironic thing is this entity that ultimately agreed to release the LDCH on DVD, and now gets to decide whether TLS is released on DVD as well, wouldn't even exist if it weren't for Lucy and Desi!

I found the LDCH set at Wally World last night and bought it, and from what I have watched so far this is a veryw ell put together, all around excellent set! Can't wait to sink my teeth into it more. Darn work always gets in the way!

They should, at least, try to sell Season 1. I mean, weren't sales of ILL really successful. Collectors will undoubtedly buy a follow-up set. I think if they don't release TLS, they are missing out on more sales. I have read on several message boards, including non-dvd forums, where people were asking why the show isn't out on dvd. And these were not diehard Lucy fans either. Some of them remembered the show from it's run on Nick-at-Nite. I've talked to them about it and some of them actually prefer it to ILL. So if CBS/Paramount is looking for logistical sales, they are looking in the wrong place because fans of ILL are not the only ones who would purchase the set. There is a whole other group of buyers out there for TLS.

i just purchased this set, i felt like a looser because i was the first one at best buy i was there before they opened, lol, but all the same so far this set is fantastic, i only wish they would have put original openings for the show as an option to play when you are watching the shows like they did with the previous ILL set. Do you honestly think that TLS will be out anytime soon?

It gets very complicated with things like original openings because those original openings include names of sponsors and sponsors' products, images owned by other people and entities. There are a lot of legal issues involved that require clearance from everyone who might have a legal claim. Many efforts were made to get legal clearances. In some cases, requests were refused or ignored.

Good news so far: The new "I Love Lucy -- The Complete Seasons 7-9" is presently the top-selling TV series DVD on Amazon.com. It's ranked #21 overall. Let's just hope it can stay up there for awhile and get Paramount some good numbers, and also send them a message that there is still a big hunger out there for more "Lucy."

I have a feeling we will see The Lucy Show on dvd in early 2008. That's just an educated guess based upon the recent rumors of a "Complete Set" release by the end of 2007. If they sped things up a bit, it would be great to see Season 1 of The Lucy Show before Christmas or right after.

I was just at Wally World (Wal Mart) and saw it posted on sale for $21.99 here in town anyway. I paid $27.99 the day before it was to be released at the same Wal Mart.

Wow! That's a very good price. Now I'm going to go to Wal-Mart and buy the DVD set. Thanks for the tip.
