When doc was talking to marty about clara and marty said to doc, I don't know doc why don't we just take her back with us and doc said you mean back to the future?
Doc then said, marty i cautioned you about using time travel for your own personal gain, and I must adhere to the same rule myself. or something to that affect. This is the contradiction that I discovered about that and lets see if anyone else caught it as well. Clara Clayton was meant to die and she did die the first time, but doc saved her life, now if doc left her behind after going back to the future, wouldn't that have caused serious reprocusions to future events, even if clara didn't change the future, what about her children or grandchildren, doc always told marty don't touch anything don't talk to anyone anything you do could have seriouse reprocusions on future events, and now doc is contradicting himself by not taking her with them. Doc saved the life of a woman who was meant to die and now she is his responsibility, so he should infact take her with them and keep an eye on her. No I know that marty changed the future in BTTF 1 when he taught his dad how to have some backbone and stand up to bif, but the clara thing would have caused much bigger changes. |

Yeah i just rewatched . She was meant to die and doc saved her. I guess it was just destiny. I thought the ending was kinda stupid though. It should've shown at the end just how marty and Jennifer turned out again in the future and doc as the best man in the wedding.

It's true that theoretically, he should have taken her back, but, at the time he really didn't know how she'd react to this. Remember, when he finally told her where he was from she didn't believe him and told him to leave her alone. It'd seem kind of like kidnapping to force her to leave her own time without her concsent, and I think he was also seriously doubting if his feelings were returned. (The guy'd been a bachelor for decades, we can understand him being unsure).
At the time he probably felt that although he'd disrupted things by saving her life, it'd be best to leave things where they were and not risk anymore damage. When she agrees to go, it kinda solved everything in one swoop

Yeah, I was kinda wondering that myself. Clara wouldn't have had any descendants though because supposedly she had never married before that 'first' accident. But I know what you mean by contradiction on his part
