Default So my best friend's pregnant...

And I HATE the name she's chosen. What do you do? I'm trying to be polite, but I really don't like it and she keeps asking what I think. I'm thinking I have 3 months to talk her out of it.

What should I do? I've always noticed that people feel really protective over the names they've picked, and get offended if you don't like them. Any advice?

There's nothing really you can do. It is their child and it's him or her that will have to live with it.

Just tell her you don't like it if she asks, it can't be that big of a deal. Maybe it'll offend her a little, but she asked. I'm sure she'll get over it quickly anyway.

What is it, by the way? Just curious.

Ahh, people hate the baby girl's name I have chosen for when I have children, but I'm set on it anyway. I mean, it's nothing like Apple or anything, so I don't know why it's hated so much

What's the name your friend chose?

I like the name Persephone Marie [from the greek myth] or Adrienne Marie.

I know I am too!

Tara and Courtnee, I love the names you've chosen. Very unique and pretty. I've chosen Sophie. I've always liked that name, but my whole family hates it. Not like that's going to stop me though lol.

I'm a believer in white lies to spare someone's feelings. You could just say something along the lines of, "It's not a name I would choose, but you and Henry like it, and that's all that matters." Naming a child is a very personal decision between a couple, and I doubt you can talk her out of it. If you go that route -- telling her you hate the name and trying to talk her out of it...all that will really be accomplished is that she knows you hate her child's name.

I went through this with my nephew and his wife. She's one of my best friends. If they had a boy, they were going to name him Bryce. I guess it's a real popular name these day. I hate the name. I just told her that I wasn't crazy over it, but I'm sure it would grow on me, once I grew to love him. Luckily, they had a girl, Emma.

Hmm.. touchy subject. I live in Springfield, MA, where I have heard everything from Shaniqua to Nirvani to Teshawn to LaQuindia to Uniquea to... Sarah. So I've basically heard at all. Chances are, it's not that bad. It won't be that bad if it's a popular name. If it's not, well.... what is it anyway?

I've liked that name ever since reading the Spooksville series when I was 8/9. Bryce was my favourite character.

Tara, good choice for Jordana Michelle! Especially the Michelle part, seeing as that's my name.
