TV's Batmobile Sells for $233,000 at Auction

A Batmobile from the 1960s television series "Batman” has sold at auction for nearly a quarter of a million dollars.

The car was the sixth built for the 120-episode ABC show based on the comic book superhero. It’s 20 feet long, black with scarlet lines.

"It’s a fantastically iconic piece of machinery – the Batman appeal spans more than 30 years,” Anthony Godin, auction manager at Coys auctioneers in London, told the New York Sun.

"It’s the Batmobile! Who wouldn’t want to own it?”

Coys, which handled the auction, declined to identify the seller, but disclosed that the winning bid, $233,000, came from a private museum based in the Cayman Islands.

I don't know why, but I would think it would have sold for A LOT MORE MONEY!!!

Here is a link to a batmobile website that has info on this replica:

If they are saying this is the "sixth" Batmobile built, then they are lying, becasue according to this link, it started out as an unauthorized replica!

Default You can buy A replica here if you can affor it!

This website sells replicas that are built from the #1 car specs.
These replica's are far superior to the replica's George Barris built in the sixty's
There is only one original Batmobile which started life as the Lincoln Futura concept car all the rest were built from molds pulled from that car.
Barris still owns the #1 car but if you have seen pics of it he has plastered Bat this and Bat that stickers all over it totaly ruining the look of it.
The replica's on the site below are beautiful cars I wish I had the money I sure would love to own one!

One recently sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction for $185,000. It was a fan built replica.

It's about 40 miles from my house. The guy that bought it also bought John Schneider's personal General Lee and Barney and Andy's Police Cruiser.

The only thing I could afford was the 1/18 scale Batmobile replica from Hot Wheels, LOL.
