Default Honeymooners Convention 2007!

http://www.myspace.com/full_grown_nuts

The Name of our new group is “Mooner Memories Association”
Our slogan is “A bunch of FULL-GROWN nuts”
The Initiation donation is $12.83 for a one year membership. This will include a membership card, an invitation to the first event, and 3 or 4 news letters per year. We are still toying with the idea of T-shirts.

As most of you already know, June 24th will be the 20th anniversary of The Great One’s accent to the Moon. That is why we felt it necessary to have our first convention in Miami. After all, Jackie loved Miami. My friend Ralph and I have been working on this for a couple months now part time. We have been postponing the release of this convention until we had the small details worked out. We are starting to run out of time to beat the clock, so we will tell you what we have so far. The dates are definite. June 23rd will be the day we all gather for the first time and have a regular riot! We are currently fighting with The Jackie Gleason Theater of Performing Arts to put on some type of dedication show, or at least a place for us to act like mental cases. There is a whole Buncha cool Honeymooner items at the theater. Jackie used to live there when he did the show. The problem is the timing. They are selling the company and will be changing the name; most likely on June 3rd. Ralph is trying to get in touch with the Mayor of North Miami Beach to see if there is anything he can do. I think I will start a petition to request that they honor Jackie by doing this. It’s the least that they can do. We will be able to get word to Marilyn prior to this event, so may be she will help us out. If all else fails, we will either choose another venue or simply rent a space to hang out somewhere.

June 24th will be a day to visit Jackie and give him the official Raccoon Salute Woo! Woo! You must see this place to appreciate it. It is so beautiful. It has nice shade trees and a great view of a pond. You can literally drive your car within 10 or 20 yards of his site. Erin had an idea so make a huge flower arrangement in the shape of the moon face. It will be very pricey, so we will be asking for donations to those who wish to contribute.
The cemetery director has been very helpful. He will provide us with tents and cold water. There is the greatest mall I have ever seen about one mile away, so we will be able to shoot a little pool and go bowlin, but we’re not goin bowlin. I tell ya, if my Pop & I, Ralph and his boy had so much fun visiting Jackie last weekend, I could only imagine how much fun a couple dozen or hundred will have. Oh Baby!

We have one radio station in NJ that is anxious to announce the news on a live show. Ralph will call in during the show as well. The DJ is a huge fan and he will make some calls to get it on TV up north. We have a few other media contacts, so I expect a bigger turn out than initially planned.

We are also in the process of trying to get a city bus to drive down from The Jackie Gleason Depot in NY. Until a few years ago, a NY City bus would visit Jackie every year on this day. They were dressed in their bus driver uniforms and all.

I am hoping that Peter Crescenti and Bob Columbe will attend. Peter sounded like he would, if he can. I will not announce that they are coming unless I get a commitment from them. We will try to invite a few stars if we can. Of course Joyce won’t be going cause she doesn’t travel that far anymore. Hopefully she will mail me a letter that I can display, as she said she would.

As far as transportation, we are looking into group rates for a train ride from NY to Miami. Can you imagine how much fun that’s gonna be! I might have to make the trip up there just for that ride. We will be posting flight information as well as local hotels, maps, etc.

If you would like to speak with myself, or Ralph, just send me a PM. If you would like to participate with the petition, please let me know. There is strength in numbers and The Great One deserves a respectful bon voyage.

Thank you very much for your time and just remember;
If ya don’t show up, we’ll come GETCHA!

Hey Dude! Who made you the boss of this message board to start telling everyone who was here before you that we could join "your group" for
$12.83 for a one year membership. Also, JealousGarrity was the first person to mention a Honeymooners Get-Together and what gives you the right to ignore his original idea and promote it as if it was your own. Any man who is truly married and has a full-time job wouldn't have the time to do all that you talk about doing. There are definitely discrepancies in the way you go about trying to achieve things on this message board. I don't know about the others who post here but I want to acknowledge that JealousGarrity is the person that I'll talk to and not you if I'm interested in participating in a Honeymooners Get-Together.

I detect the presence of a one-eyed monster... lol... Garrity, let me ask you a question... what's the big deal if we picked a date or not?... why are you making this into something so bad when it's not?... I'm SO sorry that I chose a date that is entirely appropriate to just honor the man who's responsible for the existence of this show to begin with... Listen, I was at Gleason's public wake in 1987 (I was 19 years old), so whether I was involved with myspace, any message boards like this, you, Charlie, BD, Brother Norton, etc OR NOT, I would have honored him on Sunday June 24th regardless... In addition, I was born and raised here in Miami, so I have been to his resting place several times, and I currently sit 50 minutes from his grave as I write this... so I have been very fortunate to live in an area where Gleason lived himself in his final years, and I do NOT take it for granted that I can get in my car right now and drive to the Great One's grave if I wanted to... as far as I am concerned, I'm not woooorthy of such an honor... I just thought it would be fun to have a nice get together on this appropriate weekend with a bunch of his fans... but for some reason, you think setting this date (before I even known of you) was some kind of a conspiracy against you... well let me tell you straight out... we have NOTHING against you Garrity... period!... I HAD THIS DATE SET IN MY MIND BEFORE I EVEN MET CHARLIE, so please don't tell me that we "scurried" to a date... I would have been at his grave site by myself on that day no matter what... I already had the date marked on my calendar before I even set up the fan page on Myspace last year...

If the tables were turned and you and a bunch of your Honeymooner friends came up with a date and were putting together a group to honor this show before we did, Charlie and I would be like, GREAT!!!... when's the date?... how do we get involved, etc??... and that's another thing... why can't you still have your own get together?... where does it say in the Honeymooners fan rule book that only one group of fans can hold a get together in a year, and honor the show?... well, as far as I know, there is no such rule... we can have a get together on the West Coast and a get together on the East Coast... that's TOTALLY FINE with me... the more the merrier!...

Can we just please stop all this?... listen Garrity, I like you man, I think you're a VERY knowledgeable, loyal and passionate fan of the show... I TOTALLY admire that in you... there's not many fans AS passionate as you are out there... you REALLY know your stuff in the trivia blog, and you've proven that for two weeks in a row (you're the first person to have ever won it two weeks in a row, did you know that?)... you're the current reigning Racoon of the Week trivia champion as we speak, so why would you ever say that I cheated you out of you becoming Racoon of the Week when I even crowned you the winner EVEN after that screw-up with the tie-breaker?... it was my mistake, and THAT is why I took your advice and gave it to you... come on!...

you know Garrity, because you're SO passionate about the show, I think that's the soul purpose why you're getting so upset over all this... even though you're getting upset over something that shouldn't be an argument to begin with, I still admire that in you because you want to start your own thing and honor Jackie and the gang... THAT's FINE!... I hope you take the initiative and do it... I'd be happy for you Garrity... Charlie and I even discussed it already, when we were talking about you and your idea to have a get together, we said that we would LOVE to come out to California and meet up with your fans out there... I think it would be fun... like I said before, the more the merrier... just like we would LOVE to have you come out to the East Coast and honor Jackie on the 20th anniversary of him leaving us...

let me say it again, I have NOTHING against you Garrity, even though you said that I do... that's totally false... as a matter of fact, like I said, it's the complete opposite... I admire your passion and knowledge of the show... even through your anger I do... and you know that I know, that you know that I know, that Jackie would want ALL of his loyal fans to be Brothers under the Pelt, and that's the way I see it too... I know you're probably saying still, like RK said to Norton sarcastically... "I should Woo Woo you"... but Brother Garrity, no matter what you think or feel about me, or no matter what you think that I think about you... Woo! Woo!

Guys, this a message board for Honeymooners fans to come together and enjoy the SAME great classic television show. What's the big deal about who made up the idea first? That's stuff kids would argue over. All's this seems to be doing is breaking up what could potentially be a good online friendship. Why? Because since you obviously all are diehard fans of THE HONEYMOONERS, you can all relate to each other on SOME level. You guys should "shake hands and make up" as our parents would say and enjoy THE HONEYMOONERS together, not separately. Fights like this on the message boards are useless, trust me, I've had a few myself that I can hardly remember.

You should JOINTLY start the club and take it from there. Petty jealousies like this will get us all nowhere. If you guys keep it up, nobody will want to come to this forum anymore to talk about the show because of the animosity going around. This needs to stop NOW! Not to bring another show into this discussion, but let's nip this thing in the bud .

Very well said TV DVD Fan. I agree 100%. We should be a team, not a competetion. All this arguing IS silly. The show should continue to be a brotherhood of fans. I will be the first one to say I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I just gotta little steamed, but now I'm calm and cool. I just had ta say a few pins and needles, needles and pins. Lol! Below is the first comment that Garrity left me on my page and it describes how we should all feel about each other, regardless of our personal differences. To release my steam last night, I started to delete comments to and from Garrity, but I just couldn't bring it upon myself to delete this one for some reason. This is what makes this show so great! If we only pay attention to the small details, it has many valuable life lessons. For instance, it teaches us not to judge people and to never hold a grudge too long. Holding a grudge too long is definitely on the top of my weak pernts list. Judging people or taking them the wrong way is up there somewhere. I guarantee you , if we ever did get a chance to meet, we would give each other the Official Raccoon Salute, and forget all about this kid stuff.

I just wanted to post the link to our events page. It has just been set up, so we will be adding more info as we get closer. Please keep an eye on the blogs if you think you might want to join in with a buncha mental cases. The entertainment portion will all depend on what happens with the J.G. theater.

Thanks!
