Default Would you agree that this are the Worst Type of Episodes on ANY SITCOM?

"Dream Sequence Episodes? I hated these type of eps on all my favorites shows and always just lost interest in watching the rest of the ep. Who else hates Dream Sequence Eps?

BTW: I created this thread because I was trying to watch Hangin with Mr. Cooper and there was a DREM SEQUENCE ep and I turned the channel

I hate them because all they do is make me want to see the episode again IN FULL. Also, any episode with a "twin" or look-a-like, like in A Different World. So stupid!

They had other episodes that made them suck at times. Judith Cohen anyone?

Dream sequences or clip shows are the worst and just show the laziness of the writers.

I read somewhere that clip shows were created so that the fans of the show could "re-live" those episodes without having to actually show the entire episode...or show the BEST OF each episode, which is really what they should be called.

Now, whether that is true or not, I tend to think that it is both, pure laziness and the fact they THINK WE WANT TO SEE THOSE SHOWS.

I don't mind if they have a retrospective (like right before the finales of shows like Cheers, ELR or Seinfeld) special, but as a regular episode, it's just lazy. Case in point: the finale of Full House was dedicated to flashbacks of Michelle. Enough said!!

I loved the two-episode that Cheers did with that gentleman, what's his name???? Anyways, that was good because they had the cast sitting in chairs on stage and had them talking abt the show while they showed snippets of different episodes. Now THAT was a good retrospective aka clip show aka best of show.

I agree somewhat. The Cosby show had some stupid!!! dream sequence episodes. That's kinda what made me had dreaming episodes. I also do hate flashback episodes.

I pretty much agree with this also. Remember Lucille Ball hosting a special 2-part clip show of Three's Company? Nothing against her, but I turn that one off everytime. Yuck!

Dream episodes...oh yeah, I absolutely HATE those. 99% of the time they are really off the wall (not unlike real dreams, I suppose, but I still hate these episodes). They never make a lasting impression with me.

Flashbacks, in my opinion, do tend to scream lack of creativity on the part of the writers. I guess writing new episodes gets difficult and stressful sometimes so this gives them a good excuse to take some time off, I guess. It's one thing if it's a quick flashback, which isn't so bad, but if the entire show is a flashback, forget it. Laziness. Next!

I also hate when characters reminisce (I'm not sure if this is technically considered a "flashback" if the footage wasn't shown on a previous episode). For example, on Benson, four of the characters sit around the kitchen table telling stories of the most influential person in their lives. As much as I love that show, that episode sucked flat out. I never watch it.
