I hated when my mom and aunts did this when I was a kid and it was because the pancakes had CRISPY EDGES-lol I was used to pancakes being soft and FLUFFY when I went to Mcdonald's or IHOP but when my mom refused to buy the proper cooking tools to make pancakes I always said-"NO!! when she asked me did i want pancakes. Someone at my job actually liked when the pancakes had CRISPY EDGES-lol YUCK!!!!

I love the crispy edges too...the inside is soft and fluffy. I use the Bisquick Shake 'N Pour. Just add water, shake and pour into a hot frying pan with just a thin coating of oil. Sometimes I slice bananas and add them before I flip them.

**** Bisquick, homemade is where it's at.
I don't have a preference regarding pancakes, as long as chocolate chips are mixed in. Actually, I hate breakfast foods so I don't eat breakfast very often. |

the frying pan isn't the problem, the reason the pancakes had crispy edges was because there was too much oil in the pan. So when the batter hit the hot oil the edges would be the first part to fry up because of the oil that the pancakes are surrounded by. If you use a little oil or butter you won't have crispy edges. Also non-stick pan will do the trick also.
But I don't mind crispy edges that's the best part sometimes |
