Title Of Song - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

For quite some time now; I have been hearing this song play on the radio and I really like it but don't know the title. I only know part of the words; can somebody please tell me the title of this song? It sounds like the song is being sung by: "John Lennon" or maybe "The Beatles" (I'm not quite sure).

In the song he says: sitting on a pebble by the river playing guitar
**not too sure about this line** wandering if I'm gonna really get that far (?)
**also not too sure about this one**you know there's something wrong

Unfortunately; that's all I can remember about this particular song.
It's been driving me

because I like the song but can't remember
the title. The words in (Bold) are part of this song.

Thanks a lot; I really appreciate it. I made a mistake with the artist but at least now I know the title and who sings it exactly.

I've always loved "Too Late For Goodbyes", which was Julian's biggest hit and probably his best known song.

He also did the pretty "Cole's Song", which was played over the closing credits of Mr. Holland's Opus and is on that movie's soundtrack.

Julian is great...his voice sounds sooo much like his father's. It's eerie. I have almost all of his albums, but I'd say 'Photograph Smile' is my favorite
