Default Why cannot 'axed' sitcoms be concluded properly?

does it annoy you that having been a fan of a show that you've watched for a couple of seasons that you discover that it is going to be cancelled? and to make matters worse, the writers of the show couldn't be bothered to conclude it properly on a happy note. i mean, if they and the producers, as well as the actors themselves know it was going to be cancelled or it was going to be on the verge of being cancelled, then they would've pulled out all the stops to give us the happy ending that we want and expect. there have been many shows throughout the past which have been cancelled because of things such as the decline in ratings, the show going downhill, absurd ideas and storylines later on in the show. and yet for some of them- or most of them, they have incomplete or unresolved endings. i can understand if it was that bad that everyone had panned or slated it, but for this to happen to a show that you have loved watching and got used to for a considerable period of time, over those few seasons, is just insulting to the viewer. particuarly if they have grown up with that sitcom. what are your views on this?

They did that with Invaision on ABC, even though its not a sitcom, it had many viewers who watched it. Then it got cancelled with a cliff-hanger at
the end of the show. It was enough to make you mad, but what can you do?

Angry axed sitcoms

yeah, you echoed my sentiment, exactly. well, i guess the best thing to do is come up with our imaginary endings, which is better i suppose. unlike the writers and the company which broadcasts that show itself- be it abc, cbs, nbc or whomever

It would've been nice to see some sort of conclusion to 'Joey.'

I'm not sure about this; but probably; in some cases when they decide to cancel a show; the writers don't have enough time to write a finale.
I say this because I know that YEARS AGO that's what happened with "Taxi". That's why they had a 1 hour retrospective instead of a finale.

Yeah, sometimes it's just, you're gone and that's it. Or they're not sure if they're coming back the next season until May, after the show has already done their last episode of that season.

Hollywood is full of idiots who all think they "get" the general public, but they have just a glimpse at a clue.

As I get older I find it funny (yet sad) to watch the self-implosion of the networks with such great shows that they toss away.

That also happened with Soap. I think a couple of years later they had a resolution of sorts on its spinoff Benson.
