Jeri Gewel has cerebral palsy, a delibilitating and permant cond. On bad advice from her Agen, Jeri stopped doing FOL. She had a pretty bad period, but had surgey to alleviate some pain. She is now doing ok. I think she hopes to get back into standup. She and Lisa once sahred an apartment together. I don' think they are in touch now though. Jeri is in her forties now and to be honest I haven't seen her in about two years.

She's currently scheduled to appear at the next Hollywood Collectors Show:

Just thought I'd pass this info along.

I want to ask something and please give your honest opinion without worrying about being politically correct. Do you think Geri was funny? And also, do you think FOL brought her onboard for her talent or for publicity as being the first show to have a handicapped character? I mean, honestly. I remember at the time how much publicity FOL got because of Geri. I think she seems like a nice woman, don't get me wrong. But do you think she was funny? Do you think her presence (as an ACTOR and not a handicapped person) added to the show?

Well I always like her joke about the tossed salad and working at Shake's and the joke about her being a pretty good bowler except the ball ever goes in her lane. Sometimes she would be a bit much but for the most part I thought she was funny. You know I think they brought her in cause of her handicape since she was Blairs cousin. Remember Geri's first episode, Blair was all upset Geri was there on her big night and Blair was worried Geri was going to steal the lime light from her do to her handicap just because Geri always stole the lime light at home cause everyone liked what Geri did just because she could do it since she had a handicape. So I kind of think they put her on the show do to her handicape to show Blairs family isn't all just beautiful and perfect. I'm not saying Geri wasn't beautiful but she isn't as beautiful as Blair was that's all.

I thought she was funniest at the times when she wasn't necessarily supposed to be funny. I didn't like it when they made cerebral palsy the topic of discussion by trying to prove a point or something. I think it's great that she was still a pretty good actress even with her condition, but to make it into a parable was kind of tacky, I think.

Geri is one of my favorite characters on FOL. I love the episodes she is in. I especially love the scene with Geri and Tootie when she is having trouble with her hearing. I, actually, thought Geri was very funny and very good at acting. I think the episode where she tries to take on too much with that event really showcases her acting.
