Sad Bronchitis Updates

Hey guys,

I just wanted to give you all an updated on my health conditions lately. My stupid cough has developed into Bronchitis, and I have been uncontrollably coughing. Enough was enough when I decided on Thursday to call in for a doctor appointment. I have been prescribed to some antibiotics as well as some of this heavy-duty cough syrup. For some reason, the cough syrup is throwing my body into an endless loop. It has made me extremely sleepy, nauseous, and I have vomited from it. I was told to drink plenty of fluids, but I don't see it happening for a while because I cannot seem to keep anything down. It is frustrating because I am feeling quite weak.

Soooo....I wanted to write this thread out to those of you who may wonder about my whereabouts in case I can't get to my computer in a couple of days. If you are wondering why I have not written yet, it's because I can only sit up for a certain amount of time before my ultra nauseous feelings cause me to vomit. I am sorry about that. I will write you all once I can stand sitting for a little longer than just 5-7 minutes.

I just need to get some rest this weekend during the first days of all the meds I am taking. I will write you guys back soon.

Okay...now I am starting to feel . Ugh.... Talk to you all soon....

Bronchitus? Oh boy do i now how you feel. I had it last year and it was a rotten two weeks for me.

Mucinex DM did a good job for me. I had some antibiotics from a doctor, but Mucinex helped out a lot too.

This is distressing news Mona. I hope you feel better soon. I wish I could bring you some chicken soup, but from the sounds of it, it wouldn't stay down anyway. Get well, and please keep us updated as best you can.

Thank you all. Special thanks go out to those who replied in this thread: Cathy, Jenny, TJL, Kazza, Janice, catlover79, and Courtnee! It means a lot to me.

The good news is that I am feeling a little better than I did yesterday at this time. I am not feeling as nauseous while sitting up on my computer chair. Plus, I finally ate some dinner! I haven't had a decent meal in 60 hours! No lie! Yesterday morning I ate a bowl of warm grits in I microwaved, drank those clear liquids and water I couldn't keep down, and I ate some buttered crackers. Just about two hours ago, I felt my stomach growling, so I could tell my body was already craving an actual meal. I decided to bake one of those Banquet Homestyle Chicken Bakes in the oven. I ate two servings along with some flat Ginger Ale. Yum!!! I was so starving that you would've thought I presumed this was a fancy meal! Well....after not eating an actual meal apart from crackers in about 60 hours, it was truly an ocassion for me. I don't sense any nausea, so that is good. I wanna keep this food down.

In addition to my nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite side effects I experienced yesterday and some of this morning, I also had dizzy spells. I had to crawl into the restroom when I needed it because I was afraid of falling over if I walked erect. Well, I am feeling better from that too!

Thanks again for those of you who posted kind messages.

I know exactly how you feel. I didn't eat any "real" food for three days. You're just so tired from all the coughing and wheezing, you can't eat anything. I think i lost a few pounds that week.

Hunger pains are a welcome feeling in those times, as odd as that sounds.

So true. That's exactly what my mom was saying as well. She said something along the lines to, "Well, at least you will lose a couple of pounds." Yeah...all that coughing/wheezing drains your body completely. Ack.

I know what you mean. Makes you eat nearly anything instead of being overly picky. That's true, indeed.
