Red face Dirty DVDs

That got your attention, lol. I'm talking about actual dirt.

Lately, a good amount of movies that I get from Netflix start going haywire while I'm watching them. I have to remove it and clean it. I use a mild soap and water. I'm going to start checking movies for dirt before I start watching them.

The video store used to clean them in their machine while I waited, but I'm back to Netflix.

Is anyone else having this problem with rented DVDs?

Yes. B/c of that and other problem, I switched to Blockbuster. Never been happier!

I don't belong to netflix... yet,

But I am so frustrated with that happening with the DVDs I borrow from the library. Those are just disgusting - I've actually taken to renting the VHS versions, just so I won't have to deal with it

On a rare occasion, we have trouble with the DVDs we recieve from Blockbuster online.

I gotta tell ya, for my money my Playstation 2 is the best DVD player i've ever had. It will play DVDs that the other DVD players we have in our apartment won't.

That's a big reason I don't rent movies and I don't loan DVDs out to people, unless I trust them. A lot of people don't know how (or don't care) to take care of CDs and DVDs, even though it's so easy. They'll leave them out of cases, flip the disc over and leave it sitting data side-up on something for days/weeks on end, then people put stuff on top of it, hold them by the data side, double CDs/DVDs in one jewel case; etc. The last few times I tried renting a movie, it looked like someone took an S.O.S. pad to it, or someone's kid had their greasy hands all over it.

Sometimes I feel like the only person in the world who's anal about the shape of my CDs and DVDs.

That reminds me of a woman I worked with many years ago. She said she stopped taking books out of the library because she could tell that people were picking their noses, by what was on the pages. Sorry to be gross, but I'll never forget her telling me that, and it was over 20 years ago.

Back to DVDs, it depends on how old it is. Tonight we watched, The Departed, which just came on DVD yesterday. I looked at it and it was shiny new.

So there's none of this going on in your home, lol.

Oh, man. That made me cringe.

I once lent a friend of mine a copy of season one of The Sopranos. It was returned to me with some sort of gooey substance all over the packaging, which I can only hope was soda. Luckily, I was able to get it off with a light dose of my glasses cleaning solution.

I cringe watching my sister in law handle dvd's, lol. Actually I received scratched dvd's that won't play from Netflix, I send them back and they send me knew ones. It's a little annoying at times.
