Security in Schools - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was just wondering what everyone thought about the level of Security in schools these days. In the School I am currently in security has gotten more strict this year. Before the fall nearly all our outside doors were unlocked, mostly for the courtyard class changing, and the security staff always left atleast 1 of the the hallway gates unlocked. Now the doors must remain locked at all times, because of the crazy things that happened at the beginning of the school year, and they are very stricted about students being in the gate areas after closing time, that is a lot better than it used to be. But can be better

My high school security was always getting more strict..We had a lot of problems with gangs and a lot of...non-students coming in and fighting with students. So we had to wear our IDs around our necks at all times. We also had metal detectors and bag searches at least once every two weeks or so. Our doors were all locked, except for the front door, where there was a security guard signing people in and out.

Basicly, all we have here is an SRO officer.

Our school's gotten tighter lately, too. I know it's a good thing, but sometimes it gets in the way of teaching. Our classroom doors have to remain locked and shut at all times. Well, once you go in my classroom, you have to walk down this long hallway before you actually get to the class. So, if a student needs to use a pass or another teacher needs to come in for some reason or whatnot, they have to knock. I have to stop teaching and walk all the way to the door to let them in. It wastes too much time. Plus, we don't have windows or anything, so if someone were going to attack us or whatnot, they knock, I answer....they're in the room anyways!
