Default Music Teacher that changed girls life - Deloris Brooks

Does anyone remember the one where a girl who recalled during her childhood she had a music teacher that was a influence in her early years. Her teacher took her to classical music concerts and taught her about music. The teacher basicly was like a motherly influence in her life. She later moved and had some kind of rare disease which affected her memory. Later in her teen years she saw her teacher on the street, but she could not remember her. Her teacher was so excited to see her and the girl blankly looked at the teacher and said, "well, I hope I was a good student." They showed later in life the girl was working at a hospital and in conversation with someone was talking about where she lived. A doctor was passing by in the hall and heard her talk about the town that she lived in and they struck up a conversation. The Dr. remembered her from a music class and it triggered all of the memories to come back to her. The woman then realised how big of an impact the teacher had in her life and now is searching for her. Does anyone remember this episode or have it. I know I have it in my collection of several tapes, but I can not find it now. I just always thought that it was a well done episode with a lot of feeling. A lost favorite of mine. I think this would be a good one to add on a future best of volume. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes I have that one on tape as well. It aired 10/20/93. It was a nice story as far as Lost Loves go and I hope that she was able to find her and I actually think there was probably a good chance she did. The woman who was searching for her teacher was Deloris Brooks.

Thanks Heather, Maybe if you make a Volume 10 it would be a good one to add even though it is a lost love one and I know that alot of people don't think much of those.

I never saw this segment until watching it on Prime. Am I the only one thinking there's something "off" about this segment? How hard would it be to get in touch with the school where Madeline worked and go from there? I also thought it was a little weird that Deloris didn't remember her teacher when they encountered each other on the street (the UM segment says it was a total of 5 times), but a random encounter at a hospital years later where a coworker mentioned the teacher's name she suddenly remembered everything. I know the segment implied she had amnesia from a disease, but I thought the wording, "from what she believed" was a little weird. Didn't the doctors at the hospital tell her what afflicted her?

My thoughts too. Seems strange that a former teacher is that hard to reach.

Is it possible that this cultural enrichment never occurred, save in the mind of Deloris?

Didn't they mention something about the school burning down since Deloris had attended? Or am I confusing this with another segment?

I thought this was a waste of a segment-it appeared she was just making it up & that nobody-no other student at the school, no other teacher, no family member of the teacher, or the teacher herself came forward with information would indicate this lady didn't exist.

Wasn't the teacher's father also mentioned in the segment? It just seems odd that no one had any idea where they went when they moved.
