Thumbs up An update on Rowdy "Roddy" Piper's health

“I will be walking down that ramp on Raw again, that’s a promise,” said a motivated Roddy Piper in an exclusive interview with WWE.com on Tuesday afternoon. “I want to warn everyone right now, when you see me on that stage, get the heck out of my way.”

The WWE Hall of Famer was eager to reiterate the statement he gave to WWE.com in early December, just days after he was diagnosed with a low-grade Lymphoma. In the weeks that followed, Piper spent the majority of his time in a local hospital, undergoing extensive radiation treatment in hopes of vanquishing the cancer that had invaded his body.

“I did the radiation treatment five times a week for four weeks,” said Piper. “But, we won’t know the real results for another few months.”

At that time, Piper will return to the hospital where he will undergo a series of tests to determine the results of the treatment. Right now though, the WWE legend feels good - so good that he has begun work on a new movie for MTV. Currently in the midst of the second week of a four week shoot, the controversial sports-entertainment icon welcomes the change of scenery from the confines of a hospital bed.

“I’ve never really liked hospitals, I wanted out of there as soon as possible,” said Piper. “I am down here on the set, sitting in a mansion and catching up on some much needed rest.”

Piper told WWE.com that he was overwhelmed by the amount of support he received from WWE fans during his ongoing ordeal.

“You’ve got to realize, I’ve been stabbed three times, I’m not too used to this kind of love from people,” said an emotional Piper. “It has been unbelievable the amount of support I’ve gotten. I’m getting letters, packages, e-mails, and phone calls from so many people, it’s just overwhelming. I sincerely don’t have the words to express my gratitude and thanks to everyone who has contacted me. I’m a very lucky person.”

Stay tuned to WWE.com for further updates on the Hot Rod’s condition.

That's good news.

The other day I was watching "They Live," and i remembered that Roddy had been having health problems.

I hope things turn out alright for him.

What an inspiration Roddy Piper is. He is a fighter and I know that he can beat this thing.

Great News on Roddy Piper, Piper's Pit Lives On! I am hoping things turn out well with his results in the next few months.

Hey Little Mel did you catch UFC 67 with Cro Cop and Rampage making their Debuts?

Hey canuckkid, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see it. With the price of the pay per views, and with there being one of them each month now, I just can't afford them anymore. I usually just wait a couple months until the UFC and Pride shows come out on DVD, and then I rent them from Netflix. It sucks, cause I love watching them live, but like I said, it's just too much darn money for me. You said you watch the shows at Bars and Pubs right?? Well I'm curious, how much do you have to pay to watch them there?? Because if it's significately cheaper than watching at home, I might just start doing that. But anyway, I heard that both Crocop and Rampage made very impressive UFC debuts, with Rampage getting a second round knockout, and Crocop getting a first round knockout. It sounds like it was a pretty exciting show. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these guys in the UFC. I honestly don't think it'll be long before Mirko becomes the UFC Heavyweight Champion. He's too good not to be.

Btw, did anyone see Raw from the Rose Garden a couple weeks ago, where Piper made his return?? It was so awesome seeing him return in his hometown, and it was even more awesome seeing the incredible reception that he recieved from the crowd. I'll be honest, I almost cried seeing him in that ring again. Definitely a very touching moment for me as a fan. If I come across the video of his return, I'll be sure to post it for anyone who might have missed it. It was definitely a great moment!!

Little Mel, you made a wise choice saving your money, although the Cro Cop and Rampage had impressive victories the fights were really boring in my opinion. Not much action in the Cro Cop fight and it was stopped before Cro Cop was about to do serious damage on his opponent. The Rampage fight was a bit better at least Marvin Eastman put up a fight unlike Cro Cop's opponent. The Silva and Travis Lutter fight was okay, Travis Lutter actually may have won the first round but Lutter ended up getting caught in a triangle choke. All in all not as exciting as the UFC when St.Pierre beat Hughes. I agree it's just a matter of time before Cro Cop becomes the Heavyweight Champion.

Let's see if the next UFC will be better, The "Natural" making a comeback, Rich Franklin, and Matt Hughes all fighting and trying to earn their way to a title shot once again.

I did not get a chance to see Piper return to the ring, I don't follow wrestling much anymore. But I am happy to hear that he is in good health and that he received a warm ovation. He is a wrestling legend that will never be forgotton.

In terms of watching the fights live at the bars/pubs, where I go there is no cover charge, I just pay for drinks which still cost an arm and a leg. I usually spend between $15-$50 which is as high as I will go depending on how many people I go with, if they are buying drinks for me, or if I have to be courteous and buy drinks for other people. I save money by going later, the UFC event usually starts at 10:00 by I don't bother watching much of the undercards. I usually go at around 11:00-11:30 by then some of the better fights start. That way I can watch the main event and not have to spend much money on drinks. But if you go with just a couple of people you can get away with just buying a couple of drinks and spending $10-$15, this is usually the case for me when I go and watch the major boxing matches.

Hey, thanks for the reply cannuckkid!! Somehow I overlooked this thread, and forgot about it, which is the reason for my late reply, but I appreciate you responding!! After reading your reply, I'm glad I didn't order that ppv. I wasn't too excited about it. Just looking at the fight card, I wasn't expecting it to be very good considering who Silva, Crocop, and Eastman, were fighting. I'll just wait a few months, and hopefully I'll be able to see it for free from Netflix.

It's awesome how Randy Couture once again made all his critics look like fools, by beating Tim Sylvia, and becoming Heavyweight Champion yet again, at 43 years old!! "The Natural" is like a fine wine, in that the older he gets, the better he gets. I couldn't believe it when I heard he knocked Sylvia down within the first 10 seconds of the fight!! I did pick Couture to win, but I don't think even his biggest fans expected that. Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'm not a Tim Sylvia fan at all, infact, he's my least favorite fighter, so it was awesome to hear that he got destroyed in all five rounds, and it was even more satisfying knowing one of my all time favorite fighters did it. Hopefully Crocop will destroy the next guy he fights, and we'll get to see him vs Couture. Now that would be an awesome fight!!! I'm sure Couture will be looked at as the underdog again, but if that fight does happen, I think it'll be a great one, and I think Randy will win again. That might even be a ppv that I would pay for!!

Thanks for the info about the bars and pubs!! I'll have to look into that, and see if it's the same way where I live. I'm not too big on bars, but if I can go and see a $45.00 show for free, and only spend $10.00 on beer, then I think I can deal with it. Thanks again for your reply!!

Oh btw, did any of you see the weird interview Chuck Liddell gave on some Texas talk show?? I couldn't believe how bad he looked and sounded, and couldn't even understand most of what he was saying. At one point in the interview, he actually looked like he fell asleep. It was really sad!! Hopefully the reports of him taking too much cold medicine are true, and it's not something more serious. Here's the interview for anyone who's interested.

Hey Little Mel congrats to your boy Randy Couture for totally dominating the fight against Silvia from start to finish. I did not get a chance to check the fight out but I hear Silvia was no match for Randy. Now that Randy is the champ are you going to visit his training facility more often? It's such an inspiration to see a 43 year old still be able to dominate against a guy much younger then him. However, now that Randy is the champion he may have to fight CroCop. He has proven me wrong before but I am hoping if they do in fact fight he does not get seriously hurt. It will be sort of like an Ivan Drago vs Rocky type match where Couture will be a heavy underdog. Let's hope he will be able to pull a Rocky on CroCop and overcome the odds and win the fight. Randy is such a class act, he is good for the sport.

I am looking forward to the next UFC where St.Pierre will be back in the octagon against Matt Serra. Also, Diego Sanchez will fight Josh Koscheck. Sanchez is the real deal if he wins this he might fight St.Pierre next. But Koscheck is such a good wrestler, it will be interesting to see who will be able to take down who. This is a card you should check out and if it means just paying $10-$20 dollars on beer it will be well worth it. I am not too big on bars myself but sometimes the atmosphere is great when there are big events. I know people are going to go nuts if our home country boy St.Pierre wins.

I did see that video of Lidell on that talk show, it was weird seeing him almost fall alsleep. His speech was slurred and the host had to keep asking him if he was okay. Im not a doctor but he may have taken too much painkillers. I hope he is okay and we will be able to see him fight and still dominate in the near future.

Also want to let you know if you have Spike TV on April 5 they will be airing a live event. The main event is Joe Stevenson Vs. Melvin Guillard. Anyway Little Mel, hopefully you can check out the next UFC card and we can discuss the fights. Take it easy buddy!

Thanks man, yeah I was so happy when Randy won. I've been noticing alot more activity in his gym everyday since he won. Everynight when I go by there, it seems like more and more people are there. I might go in sometime soon and check things out, but to be honest, I think I just want to stay a fan of the sport. LOL!! Takes alot to do what they do, and I'm focusing on other things in my life right now.

I think Randy should be okay against CroCop. Everyone was talikng about Sylvia having the most devastating hands in the business, and Couture went out and out struck him. Same thing happened the first time he fought Chuck Liddell. Thing I love about Randy, is that he's awesome when it comes to preparing for his fights, and I think his last fight's the perfect example, as it played out exactly as he had planned. I think as long as he prepares for CroCop, he should be okay, and not get seriously injured. Of course, in this sport, you just never know what's going to happen, but I don't know, I'm thinking he'll be okay.

I'm also looking forward to the Sanchez Koscheck fight. I've watched everyone of these guys' UFC fights, and both have impressed me. Sanchez is just so quick, and great on the ground, while Koscheck is really awesome in just about every aspect of fighting. I'm thinking Sanchez will pull it out with a submission, but I'm definitely thinking it'll be a great fight!!

Thanks for letting me know about the April 5th event. I'll definitely be checking it out, and will P.M. you soon about the fights!!
