"Indy 4" Picks Its May Day - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

fourth film in the "Indiana Jones" franchise has targeted Memorial Day 2008 for its long awaited release.

The specific release date for "Indy 4" will be May 22, putting it into direct competition with the Wachowski Brothers' similarly long-anticipated adaptation of the Japanese comic series "Speed Racer," which will open the following day. No stars have been announced for "Speed Racer," a Warner Bros. release.

"Indiana Jones and the Quest for Profit" (not the official title) is expected to begin production in June, reteaming producer George Lucas, director Steven Spielberg and whip-wielding star Harrison Ford. The specifics of David Koepp's script are a government secret, but expect intrepid professor and archeologist Indiana Jones to go looking for something old and valuable and to face myriad difficulties perhaps including, but not necessarily limited to, snakes.

Paramount is distributing the LucasFilms Ltd. production.

The three films in the franchise -- 1981's "Raiders of the Lost Ark," 1984's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and 1989's "Last Crusade" -- have taken in just under $1.2 billion worldwide.
