Oh No Frustrated & Don't Understand

To make a long story short; my boyfriend's sister in law is still living with his parents and every so often, she gets into an argument with his mother.
They don't like each other very much, and his sister in law doesn't help out much around the house, hardly and/or doesn't give any money and has no respect for them and the list goes on and on..............................

She's a traditional chinese woman and they too are chinese but not as traditional and so according to their culture; when a woman marries the oldest son, she's out of her family and into his and stays there no matter what; unless I guess she leaves on her own free will but for now they are stuck with her and her ways of life which are frustrating, etc....

My boyfriend has spoken to his father about getting her to leave in a nice way without having it get ugly and nasty but he's not doing anything.
He says he wants to but I guess because of the culture and everything; he can't but I don't understand how he can let her stay there under the circumstances and everything. I mean, I can understand every culture has it's traditions and all that but when there's a member that's disruptive, and has no respect for their in-laws, etc.... then why not get rid of her?

She thinks she's an but I think she's a troublemaker & I hate her.
I want her out but it's not my decision. Any ideas and or thoughts?

Update

Well, here's an update and unfortunately it won't be pretty. Now, they have to get legal with her so that she will leave because she won't go on her own.
My boyfriend's father told her the other day that he's giving her 3 months to leave, and at that point she didn't say much about it. Yesterday, the topic came up among other disputes and she said that she's not going anywhere; that she will leave when she's good and ready.

His father has reached the end of his rope and wants her out of there finally and for good ( I Hope ) because she's nothing but trouble. I hate her with a passion. I'm not the kind of person that hates people that easily but when someone does that and acts like that especially with the family of someone whom I love very much and his family well, then you become my enemy.

I just hope that once she's gone from there; that she won't come back and make trouble by getting revenge and hurting them anymore. I will keep you posted on the situation as it develops more and more.

I assume she's the wife of your boyfriend's brother. What does he say in all this? Tradition aside, if he's still in the picture, then she's HIS problem. Is the father booting both of them out?

Culture and traditions aside, she doesn't have a leg to stand on in Canada. She's in THIS country now and must abide by our laws. Tough nuts chicky - the owner of the home wants you out and you're gone - period.

Montreal is probably a lot like Toronto. Tons of mixes of culture and they can't seem to get it through their heads that they're not in their home countries anymore. They now have to fall under our country's laws.

Oh No Enough Is Enough

Yes, it's my boyfriend's sister in law; his late brother passed away in Aug. of 2005. She has been a problem since the very beginning but now it's getting worse and out of control. Even when his brother was alive; he had trouble with her. Now, we have to deal with her; well not so much myself but my boyfriend and his parents. His other brother lives in Toronto so he doesn't have to see this only hear about it but he can't do nothing. He has his own family and everything. I just hope that this can get settled and she will be out of the picture real soon cause she's trouble and no longer welcomed.

She hasn't a leg to stand on. Even if her husband died without a cent of insurance, his parents have obviously helped her out a lot in the past two years allowing her to stay. There's no legal reason they can't boot her right out. Your boyfriend's dad serves her plenty of notice and he can load all her belongings on the front lawn after the deadline if she isn't out of the house. Especially if she hasn't paid anything towards rent or anything like that.

Here in the US, he may be able to get the Sherrif's department to evict her. I dunno if in Canada the law could get involved to get her out of the house, as far as serving an eviction notice or physically taking her stuff out of the house? I mean, she's just a non-paying tenent and the landlord has that right.

I think it's the same here too. Maybe only details change and that can happen state to state, but he definitely has the right to evict for nonpayment. Heck, just watch an episode of Dr. Phil sometime, just this week he had some chick's mother load all her stuff on the front lawn and was told to move her ass!

Oh No Latest Update

Well, here's the latest update on this situation. My boyfriend along with his cousin and myself are going to see a lawyer on Wednesday the 27th to get the ball rolling. He's bringing his cousin along because she knows this lawyer and everything. Please, keep your fingers crossed and pray that all of this will be over real soon; preferably before the holidays.

We know that it will get ugly and she will put up a fight but no matter what; she won't (win) and will have no choice but to leave his parents' house.
I'm going along with them because I'm not working that night and I want to be there for moral support. I don't have to be there but I want to.

Once, I have more news and/or updates; I will let you know.
Thanks to all of you who share your concern and give support.

Oh No Tomorrow Is The Day

Well, tomorrow is the day that my boyfriend along with his cousin and myself go see the lawyer regarding his sister in law (who we all hate with a passion).
I wish that we didn't have to do it this way but we have no choice because she won't leave on her own; not yet anyway. She's a real troublemaker.

I will keep you all posted as it develops; keep your fingers crossed.
Thanks for all the concern and support; please say a prayer.

Oh No Well, Here It Is

Well, she will be receiving a letter of demand sometime next week telling her that she must leave by August 1st. If she doesn't do it and/or refuses in any way; the next step will be to get the police involved; if there are no other alternatives. Bottom line is that it won't be pretty either way.

I will let you know what the outcome is once it has happened.
Wish Us Luck!! (say a prayer) and keep your fingers crossed.
