I was at the hospital recently, and the nurse asked me if I ever had surgery. When I told her no, she was very surprised. I guess by the time people are in their 40s, most have had surgery. That's the impression I got anyway.

None for me. Unless you count dental surgery.

Just my tonsils and dental stuff. I always wonder if tonsils count as surgery.

I had my first surgery when I was 10 months old, they had to remove a tumor
plus I've had three other minor surgeries. I imagine there are alot of people out there that have had surgery. Be glad that you've never needed it. |

Just dental stuff.
I know this girl who had an extra thumb when she was a baby and she had to have surgery to cut it off. |

Well, I had a tonsillectomy done in 1987. Last month, I had my wisdom teeth pulled.
I've had VERY minor outpatient surgeries - have had a bunch of moles removed. I had three removed last month and they all required stitches. |

Aside from a few dental procedures where i was knocked out, the only time I went under the knife in a real hospital O.R. setting was when i had my left collarbone repaired in 2001. Actually, they had to go back in and take the stuff out eventually, so that's twice i guess.
Wait, are we counting it twice if it's for the same body part? What was the question again?

A lot of people were surprised when I made it to 17 without any surgeries, especially with me being sick all the time. But in April 2006, I had my first surgery, bunionectomy on my right foot. Then on July 2006, second surgery, bunionectomy on my left foot. Hopefully that will be it for a whiile.

I had my wisdom teeth removed last year. Otherwise, just had my finger reattached, but that was in a doctor's office...no numbing or anything...just like 10 stitches.

I had my wisdom teeth removed in 1997. I also had to endure same day surgery in 1996 and 1999 to stop a keloid growth on my right earlobe (where my earring ripped though the ear). Owwwwwwwww...

Well Janice, I guess you know by now that I had surgery. Back surgery. It was the first time I had ever had surgery. I decided on a new procedure the surgeon told me abt prior. It was done ANTERIOR. That means, through the front. The reason being that the doctor used bone from my hip to graft that to my spine for the fusion. I figured, a scar in my lower pelvic would be better than one on my back. It came in handy later when I ended up having a C-section...that doctor used the same entry way, therefore, I have ONE SCAR, TWO SURGERIES, kinda like killing two birds with one stone.
I also had wrist surgery last summer when I was suffering from cartilage damage that was causing me great pain. I am glad for that surgery, the pain WENT AWAY FOR GOOD. Unlike my back surgery. |

none really. i have broken a few bones but none requiring all-out surgery. broken bones don't count, right?
also, i've had stitches but nothing too serious.

Yeah, I had surgery twice--both on my lymph nodes (one was near my groin area, the other under my arm). I had the first one in 1996, the other closer to 1997. It wasn't too bad--I needed to take a lot of pain meds for a while, but it was better than walking around with painful lumps on my body (which made movement difficult. When they swelled up, I could hardly move my arm or leg). The scarring is minimal too.
I've also had dental surgery, like most people have. |
