Question Most bizarre injury you've received?

When I was about 6 or 7 (I can't remember if this was the summer of 1986 or 1987), my mom was cleaning out stuff for a garage sale. Included were her old golf clubs. I was on the apron of our driveway playing with them. Inside the pouch of the golf club bag I found a little box of golf tees. Understand that I was a dumb kid and I still don't know why I did this, but I stuck the sharp end of a tee up my chin!!

Blood began pouring out and I began screaming. My mom and little sister rushed to me and then I was carted to the doctor's office where I received 10 stitches. These were the days before dissolving stitches, so I had to go back several weeks later to have them removed. Quite an ordeal!! My mom had to get me my Barbie sticker album to calm me down. That spot on my chin is still sensitive to this day, 20+ years later.

The other bizarre injury was in early 1992, in gym class. We were playing basketball. One ball rebounded off the rim so fast, I didn't have a chance to react before it smacked me right in the face. It broke my glasses and cut my nose. My mom had to take me out of school and to the eye doctor to get new frames. To this day, I'm not big on basketball.

How about you all??

On my 7th birthday, I slammed the front door on my finger and the entire nail came off. That was fun.

And it's not really an injury, but I swallowed a pen cap my freshman year of high school. It got stuck in my throat and I stopped breathing and started to black out and I ended up swallowing it. Then when I got home from school, my mother freaked out and took me to the ER, where all the nurses laughed at me.

I got hit by a truck in September. I have a lot of scars from it. The one on my sholder is the most sensitive, but they all are, like, WRINKLING.

Just last October, I stepped on my own finger. I had to go to the doctor anyway so I just asked the doctor about it because it hurt. Even the doctor laugh cause she had no idea how I stepped on my own finger.

When my stepdad and I were getting ready to leave the house, I slammed the passenger side door on my thumb. That also happened when the boy who had a locker below me, in elementary school, was in a hurry and slammed my locker on one of my fingers. Years later I was throwing a used shaving razor away, only I held it wrong and wound up cutting the tip of my finger off.

Oh gosh.

When I was five years almost 17 years ago (in 1990), I was walking along with my sis and one of her friends. They were both eight years old at the time. Anyhoo... we were just walking along, and all of a sudden I tripped on the sidewalk. I tripped over NOTHING... That trip caused me to have to get three stitches and new glasses frames, because I fell facedown and my face hit the sidewalk.

I've had multiple instances of getting my finger(s) stuck in the car door. I've closed the car door on my index finger multiple times. I closed the car door on my thumb once (THAT REALLY HURT). Annnnnd one time, somebody closed a sliding minivan door on FOUR OF MY FINGERS. Yep - so pretty much my whole hand was stuck in the door - that was really pleasant.

I'm sure there have been more, but they are all I can recall at this time.

I'm not sure if this constitutes bizarre, but I chopped off half my left index finger with an electric hedge trimmer (but it was reattached).

My grandfather lost half of his index finger while building my grandmother a birdhouse.

In 1998, simply bending over at work while sitting, I caused a herniated disc in my back, that eventually ruptured.

When I was five years old, I accidently pulled a hot iron off the ironing board and it fell on my knees while I was laying in bed. I had been tugging at the cord for whatever dumb reason. My sister had left the iron on accidently. Anyways, I was so stunned that the hot iron lay on my knees for several seconds before my sister threw it off of me...I was screaming the entire time. I received third degree burns. I had scars on my knees for YEARS. I got used to them, but what is weird they simply disappeared over time and by the time I was 20, they disappeared. Before that, I hated my knees because of the scars.

When I was 12 I was walking around barefoot and I stepped on a whole toothpick that was in the carpet. It went deep into my foot, and my mom tried to remove it by trying to yank it out real fast while using tweezers, That didn't work, just hurt. So I had to go to the ER and they took some X-rays, the toothpick was almost to my bone. So they had to remove the toothpick by cutting it out. And to this day I have a small heart shaped scar on the side of my foot.

I once missed the breaking board at a Taekwon-do competition, and impaled the sole of my foot on the metal arm of the board holder.

It didn't go right through my foot, but it went in pretty deep and hurt like hell, it needed stitches.

I practically shaved off my achillie's (oh that is so not spelled right) tendon when I was, I dunno, 11, 12. Hadn't been shaving long and I stripped pretty much all the skin off. My mom said the shower looked like a massacre.

I shut my finger in my car door while I was at the body shop getting an estimate after I ran into a parked car. The door latched on my finger.

I forgot to add that a few years ago, my mom was giving me a ride someplace. It was morning, rainy and I was still very sleepy. I ended up slamming the car door into my own face!! That really woke me up. I felt like such a moron!!

Hm, when I was about 3 or 4 (so, about 1985 or '86?), my right leg got caught up in my tricycle when my babysitter was pushing it for me. I somehow broke it and had to wear a cast for a while.

Looking back on it now...how does one get injured by a tricycle? I guess those things are pretty fierce.
